their studies to the workplace?

Our vision

That students graduating from Malmö university should be competent and prepared to face and take on the challenges of society and working life.

Background

• Broadened recruitment to Malmö university – many students unaccustomed with academic studies.

• Many programs with general degrees – creates an uncertainty about future careers.

• What the students asks for and wants.• Employability

Our aim

• To offer equivalent career services and career guidance to all students at Malmö university

– To offer a wide range of career workshops and seminars, specific and general.

– To focus on competence as a whole (holistic view) and the importance of reflecting on learning.

– To focus on activity. – To use technology as a tool to spread ideas, knowledge

and reflections related to career strategies.

Examples of career activities

• Program specific career workshops (adapted depending on program):– Competence workshop – learn to communicate your competence– Career workshop – learn to present yourself, follow a Planned

Happenstance strategi and network, mingle with employers• General career workshops:

– Career Thursday (seminars in SV and ENG)– CV workshop– Job coaching

• Career Portfolio, a career-projekt, start fall 2013:– An implemented modell for learning and reflection.– Increase the ability to understand what, how and when you've learned and see

the progression in your learning.– See the added value of your learning.– Increase your self-awareness and the capacity to communicate your

competencies.

Future

• What do our students want, what do they need, what do they ask for?

• If we ask of our students to cross boarders, can we do the same?

• Can we find a way to work together with career activities in Europe?

• Can we find a way to combine our career activities from different universities in Europe by the use of technology?
