Floor Curling
Thursdays @ 1:30pm
Played with the same rules as ice curling, floor curling uses wooden rocks with
metal handles (2 lbs.) and shuffleboard wax on a hard floor.
Don’t be intimidated, this low impact activity can be done from standing or sitting
and there are throwing aids so you don’t even have to bend! Unlike ice curling
there is no sweeping!
The floor is laid out like a regular curling rink.
No in-turn, no out-turn!
Put your fun and competitive hat on and throw some rocks, have some coffee
and enjoy a nice time with friends.
Board Games
Every Wednesday @ 1:30 p.m.
Cost : $2.00/Members

City of Calgary - Seniors Services Home Maintenance
Program
Seniors Services Home Maintenance helps low income sen-
iors to live safely and securely in their own homes. This program provides seniors
with basic yard care, snow removal and house cleaning. This program is funded by
the City of Calgary.
Eligibility: seniors (65+) who are eligible for Alberta Seniors Benefit, Special Needs
Assistance and:
Are unable to do basic house or yard work
Do not own other property
Have no person living in the home who could perform basic housecleaning,
yard work or snow shovelling
Are without family, community or other home maintenance service supports
Have applied to Fair Entry to qualify for this and several other City subsidized
programs and services.
Find out if you qualify and apply online at Fair Entry
Older adults who meet the eligibility criteria are placed on a wait list for service. An
assessment of need determines priority for service as high, moderate or low. In
most cases, those with high and moderate needs will be served first, and those with
low needs referred to other support services where available. To meet operational
needs, service may be provided based on proximity to current clients or geographic
zone availability, regardless of priority rating.
To access home maintenance services, call 311 or apply for Seniors Services Home
Maintenance online through the City of Calgary’s Fair Entry program

Thank You Memory Lane Fashion Show Volunteers
On Feb. 13 thirty-five people attended our Memory Lane Fashion Show and
Tea. We were delighted by the authentic costumes, music and songs from
past and the commentary enhancing our understanding of the world of fash-
ion in the last hundred years. We could not have done it without the help of
the following volunteers who helped out making sandwiches, baking sweets,
setting tables, serving and cleaning up. If you see these people in the hall,
don’t forget to give them a pat on the back.
Thank you - Arlene Tarnowski, Joan Traviss , Joyce Oldale, Agnes Lang,
Donna Watt, Marion Rodzinyak, Helene Gregoire, Marjorie Olafson, Carol
Lacey, Pam Deliyannides and all of the guests who helped clean up after the
show.
Thanks also to Marion and Alan Hinch for the use of their beautiful cups and
saucers, and Joan Traviss for the fashionable bracelet door prizes.
Thanks to all the people who attended to support this venture.
Check out the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day Social Event on March 14th.
Hope to see you all there!

Seniors, what comes next?
Stay, Organize, Downsize
or Move
Deciding to age in place or downsize is a big decision. Learn how to fully evaluate your physical environ-ment and its surroundings to determine if it is conducive to challenges associated with aging. Explore long-term solutions including financial assistance to make the changes you need in your existing home. If you are
downsizing, will you preserve family heirlooms or gift them to others? What stays what doesn’t? What are the implications of moving for yourself and your relationships? Join us as we learn to make informed deci-
sions and leave the workshop with a list of what you need to consider for your future.
Make the decision while you can, prior to being forced to make one in haste or someone else making that decision for you. In partnership with Mango Tango Interiors.
You can register for programs online Online registration or by calling 403.260.2620, or in person at your community library. You’ll need a valid Library card number and PIN for each person attending the pro-

Alberta Health is changing the eligibility criteria for the Coverage for Seniors program. Effective March 1, 2020, family members younger than 65 years of age—including spouses and dependants—will no longer be covered by Coverage for Seniors. Albertans 65 years of age and older will continue to be covered by the program.
Affected households received letters in January and February 2020 notifying them of the change and availa-ble coverage options. Below are some frequently asked questions that might be helpful if you are assisting seniors affected by this change.
When will the Coverage for Seniors change come into effect?
The change in coverage for seniors’ family members under 65 will take effect on March 1, 2020. This means a non-senior spouse/partner and dependants will continue to have coverage until February 29, 2020.
I am a senior and my spouse/partner is also a senior. Does the change mean only one of us can be cov-ered under the Coverage for Seniors plan?
If a senior and spouse/partner are both 65 or older, they are both eligible for the Coverage for Seniors plan.
Please note, however, that a spouse/partner may have been enrolled in Coverage for Seniors, prior to turning 65, as part of a senior household. As eligibility for Coverage for Seniors will be based on age effective March 1, 2020, both seniors must have provided proof of age to maintain their coverage after February 29, 2020.
Seniors who have not yet provided proof of age will need to respond to the letter they received asking them to provide their documents as soon as possible. Visit https://www.alberta.ca/seniors-health-benefits.aspx for more information on how to provide proof of age.
What options are there for family members under 65 who will lose their coverage under the Coverage for Seniors plan on March 1, 2020?
These family members may want to consider options such as an employer-sponsored plan or other pri-vate coverage. Alternatively, the Government of Alberta has drug and health benefit programs availa-ble to ensure that all Albertans have access to economical health benefits. For more information about these benefits, please visit the Alberta Health website at https://www.alberta.ca/drug-coverage-health-benefits.aspx.
One of the government-sponsored options is the Non-Group Coverage program, administered by Alber-ta Blue Cross. The Non-Group Coverage program has the identical drug formulary as the Coverage for Seniors plan, and does not preclude patients with pre-existing conditions. Any Albertan who is no longer covered as a result of changes to the Coverage for Seniors Plan will be eligible for coverage under the Non-Group Program. The Non-Group Coverage program requires its members to pay monthly premi-ums and copayments on prescriptions.
Where can I get more information?
• General inquiries about this change - contact the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) Office, by phoning 780-427-1432 (toll free in Alberta by first dialing 310-0000)
• Questions regarding other coverage options – contact Alberta Blue Cross at 1-800-661-6995 (toll free).
