Graphic Design

Graphic designers specialise in the design and production of scientific posters, brochures, patient information, 2D animation, 3D imagery and other visual materials. They work very closely with individual staff, creating the visual images required, using computers and specialist design software packages.

All posters come laminated unless otherwise specified. All work produced is free of charge to the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust

How to find us

Plodder Lane Entrance Pass the ambulance station on your left, go straight over the mini roundabout, take the next right onto Kitchener Way. Carry on until you arrive at a junction with a road joining from the left, go straight on at this junction, and take the next right turn onto Carr Drive. Follow the road to the end; Medical Illustration is inside the Education Centre (white building).

Minerva Road EntrancePass the school on the right hand side, take the first left turn. Follow this road to the top where it bends around to the right, take the second left turn onto Carr Drive which is signposted for the Education Centre and Medical Illustration.

What is Medical Illustration?

The Medical Illustration department consists of professional medical photographers, graphic designers, a medical artist and an o�ce co-ordinator. Using their skills they produce resource materials such as photography, art and other graphic images for use in patient care, education and teaching.

Working as part of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team, the medical illustration sta� spend their time working with doctors, nurses, scientists and other professionals involved in delivering patient care.

Medical Art

Medical artists are highly skilled artists who produce very detailed accurate anatomical illustrations and artwork for publication, teaching and research. They can produce digital medical art work to your requirements in full colour, halftone or black and white line work. For more information contact 01204 390671 or ext: 5727.

Medical Photography

Our specialised photographers take photographs as required to record a patient’s condition with consent during each stage of treatment. This can take place within the department in our professional studio, on the ward, during clinics or in the operating theatre. We can also visit local GP surgeries, health centres or dentists if necessary.

We also provide a video production service for patient care, public relation or teaching purposes.

Bolton Babies and Bolton Portraits

The Bolton Babies photographer visits the Maternity Unit as often as possible between Monday and Friday to take photographs of newborn babies. If the photographer misses you on your ward, there is also the opportunity to have your baby photographed in our professionally equipped studio in Medical Illustration.
