    Road safety has priority. Only op-

    erate your car radio if road and traf-fic conditions allow. Familiarise your-self with the unit before setting off onyour journey.You should always be able to hearpolice, fire and ambulance sirens ingood time. For this reason, set thevolume of your car radio at a suita-ble level.

    Remote controls

    The most important functions can beselected safely from the steering wheelusing the optional remote controls RC08 and RC 10.Amplifiers

    All Blaupunkt amplifiers are suitable foruse with the radio.CD changer

    The following Blaupunkt CD changers

    can be connected to the radio: CDCA 06, CDC A 08, CDC A 072, IDC A 09and CDC A 02.The CD changers CDC A 5 and CDCA 071 can also be connected if you usean adapter cable (Blaupunkt no.: 7 607889 093).

    Switching on by inserting a CD

    If there is no CD in the CD compart-ment when the car radio is switched off, press the button 9 .This flip/release panel then opens. Without exerting any force, slide

    the CD into the compartment, print-ed side uppermost, until you feelsome resistance.

    The CD is automatically drawn into thedrive.

    Do not hinder or assist the drive as itdraws the CD in. Press the flip/release panel gently

    until you feel it slot into place.The car radio switches itself on and CDplayback begins.

    Switching on/offThere are various ways of switching thecar radio on and off, as described be-low.

    Switching on/off using the ignitionIf the car radio is correctly connected tothe ignition and has not been switchedoff using the button 3 , it is switchedon/off simultaneously with the ignition.You can also switch on your car radiowhen the vehicle ignition is off.

    To do so, press the button 3 .Note: To protect the vehicle battery, the

    unit switches off automatically afterone hour.

    Switching on/off using the flip/release panel

    Remove the flip/release panel.The unit switches itself off. Replace the flip/release panel once

    more.The device switches on. The most re-cent setting (radio, CD, CD-changer orAUX) is restored.

    Switching on/off using the button3 To switch the unit on, press the but-

    ton 3 . To switch the unit off, hold the but-

    ton 3 down for more than twoseconds.

    The car radio is now switched off.

    If a traffic announcement is receivedduring a telephone call, or while thenavigation system is speaking, the traf-fic announcement is not reproduceduntil the call or the speech output hasfinished.If a call is received or if the navigationsystem begins speaking during a trafficannouncement, the announcement isreproduced. The telephone call orspeech output can be heard when thetraffic announcement has finished.The volume at which navigation outputor telephone calls start is adjusted asfollows: Press the MENU button 8 . Press the or button : until

    TEL/NAVI VOL appears in thedisplay.

    Set the desired volume with the

    buttons : . When the setting process is com-

    plete, press the MENU button 8or OK ; twice.

    Note:You can adjust the volume level of tele-phone calls and of speech output asthey are made with the volume control2 .

    VOLUME ADJUSTMENT

    Sett ing the volume for theconfirmation toneIf you hold down a button for longer thantwo seconds when using certain func-

    tions, e.g. storing a station on a stationbutton, a confirmation tone (beep)sounds. The volume of this beep is ad-

    justable. Press the MENU button 8 . Press the or button : repeat-

    edly until BEEP appears on thedisplay.

    Adjust the volume using the andbuttons : . 0 means the beep

    is off, 9 means maximum beepvolume.

    When you have completed the set-ting, press either the MENU button8 or OK ; .

    Radio modeThis unit is equipped with an RDS radioreceiver. Many of the receivable FM sta-tions transmit a signal that not only car-

    ries the programme but also additionalinformation such as the station nameand programme type (PTY).The station name appears on the dis-play as soon as it is received.

    Switching to radio modeIf you are in CD, CD changer or AUXmode, press the BND/TS button 5or keep pressing the SRC button @

    until RADIO appears in the dis-play.

    RDS function (AF, REG)

    The RDS functions AF (Alternative Fre-quency) and REG (Regional) extendyour radio's range of functions. AF: If this RDS function is activat-

    ed, the unit automatically tunes intothe best receivable frequency forthe station that is currently set.

    REG: Some radio stations setaside some of their broadcastingtime for regional programmes thatprovide different regional content.With the REG function, your car ra-dio is prevented from switching toalternative frequencies with a dif-ferent regional content.

    Note: REG has to be specially activated/

    deactivated in the unit's menu.

    Switching REG function on/off

    To use the RDS functions AF and REG, press the MENU button 8 . Press the or button : repeat-

    edly until REG appears on thedisplay. OFF or ON will be dis-played alongside REG .

    To switch REG on or off, press theor button : .

    Press the MENU button 8 or OK; .

    Switching the RDS conveniencefunction on/off To use the RDS functions AF and

    REG, press the RDS button 4 .The RDS convenience functions areactive when RDS lights up on the dis-play with a symbol. When the RDS con-

    venience functions are activated,

    REGON or REG OFF appears briefly onthe display.

    Selecting the waveband/memoryThis unit can receive programmesbroadcast over the FM as well as MW

    and LW (AM) waveband. There arethree preset memory levels for the FMrange and one each for the MW andLW ranges.Six stations can be stored on eachmemory level. In order to switch between memory

    levels or wavebands, briefly press

    the BND/TS button 5 .

    Tuning into a stationThere are various methods available fortuning into a station.

    Automatic station search mode Press the or button : .The unit tunes into the next receivablestation.

    Tuning into stations manually

    You can also tune into stations manual-ly.

    Press either the or buttons : .Note: You can only tune into stations

    manually if the RDS function hasfirst been deactivated.

    Browsing through broadcastingnetworks (only FM)

    If a radio station provides several pro-grammes, you have the option of brows-ing through its so-called broadcastingnetwork . Press the or button : to

    move to the next station on thebroadcasting network.

    Note: If you want to use this feature, theRDS function must first be activat-ed.

    You will then only be able to switch tostations that you have received oncealready. To do so, use the Scan or Trav-elstore function.

    Setting the sensitivity of thestation search modeYou can choose whether you wish topreset only strong or also poor-recep-

    tion stations. Press the MENU button 8 . Press the or button : repeat-

    edly until SENS appears on thedisplay.

    Press the button : .The display shows the currently set val-

    ue for sensitivity.

    SENS HI6

    denotesmaximum sensitivity. SENS LO1 is theminimum. Use the buttons : to set the

    desired degree of sensitivity. When you have completed the set-

    tings, press the MENU button 8or the OK buttons ; .

    Storing stations

    Storing stations manually Select the required FM memory

    level, FM1, FM2, FMT or eitherwaveband MW or LW.

    Tune into the desired station. Hold down one of the preset sta-

    tion buttons 1 - 6 > on which youwish to store the station for morethan two seconds.

    Storing stations automatically(Travelstore)You can store the six stations with thestrongest reception in the region auto-

    matically (only FM). The stations arestored in the FMT memory.

    Note: Stations that were previously

    stored in this memory are deletedin the process.

    Hold down the BND / TS button 5for more than two seconds.

    The automatic station-storing procedurebegins. TRAVEL-STORE appears onthe display. Once the process is com-pleted, the station stored in FMT mem-ory location 1 is played.

    Listening to preset stations Select the memory or frequency

    range. Hold down the preset station but-

    ton 1 - 6 > of the desired station.Scanning receivable stations(SCAN)You can briefly listen in to all receivable

    stations. The scanning time can be setin the menu at between 5 and 30 sec-onds.

    Starting SCAN Hold down the OK button ; for

    more than two seconds.The scanning process begins. SCAN

    appears briefly on the display, followedby the current station name or frequen-cy, which flashes.

    Ending SCAN, continuing to listento a station Press the OK button ; .The scanning process is completed, thestation last scanned remains active.Setting the scanning time Press the MENU button 8 . Press the or button : repeat-

    edly until SCANTIME appears onthe display.

    Use the buttons : to set thedesired scanning time. Once the setting has been com-

    pleted, press the MENU button 8or OK ; twice.

    Note: The set scanning time also applies

    to scanning in the CD and CDchanger mode.

    Programme type (PTY)Besides transmitting the station name,some FM stations also provide informa-tion on the type of programme they arebroadcasting. This information can bereceived and displayed by your car ra-

    dio.For example, the programme types canbe:CULTURE TRAVEL JAZZSPORT NEWS POPROCK CLASSICSYou can use the PTY function to select

    stations of a particular programme type.

    PTY-EON

    When the programme type has beenselected and the search started, the carradio switches from the current station

    to a station featuring the selected pro-gramme type.

    Note: If no station with the selected pro-

    gramme type is located, a beepsounds and NO PTY appearsbriefly on the display. The unittunes into the station last received

    once again. If the set station or another station

    in the broadcasting network trans-mits the selected programme typeat a later time, the car radio auto-matically switches from the currentstation - or from CD or CD changermode - to the station featuring the

    desired programme type.Switching PTY on/off Press the MENU button 8 . Press the or button : repeat-

    edly until PTY ON or PTY OFF

    appears on the display. Press the or button : to

    switch PTY on (ON) or off (OFF).When PTY is activated, PTY lights upon the display. Press the MENU button 8 or OK

    ; .

    Selecting programme type andstarting a search Press the or button : .The current programme type appearson the display. If you would like to select a differ-

    ent programme type, you canchange to another programme timewithin the time the programme isdisplayed by pressing the orbutton : .

    Or Press one of the buttons 1 - 6 >

    to select the programme typestored on that particular button.

    The selected programme type will ap-pear briefly on the display. Press the or button : to start

    the search.The next station corresponding to yourselected programme type will be tunedinto.

    Storing the programme type on thestation buttons Use the or button : to select

    a programme type. Hold down the desired station but-

    ton 1 - 6 > for more than two sec-onds.

    The programme type is now stored onthe selected station button 1 - 6 > .

    Optimising radio reception

    High-frequency cut-off feature(HICUT)

    The HiCut function improves the soundduring poor radio reception (only FM).If interference occurs, the treble is au-tomatically reduced and thus also theinterference level.

    Switching HiCut on/off Press the MENU button 8 . Press the or button :

    repeatedly until HICUT appearson the display.

    Use the or button : to selectHICUT.

    HICUT 0 denotes no treble reduction, HICUT 1 the greatest automatic reduc-tion of the treble and the interference

    level. Press the MENU button 8 or

    OK ; .

    Selecting radio text displaySome radio stations use the RDS sig-nal to broadcast advertising or other in-formation instead of their station name.

    Such

    radio texts

    appear on the dis-play. You can either allow or block thedisplay of radio text. Press the RDS button 4 until

    NAME FIX appears on the dis-play.

    In order to reactivate the display of radio texts , hold down the RDSbutton 4 until

    NAME VAR

    ap-pears on the display.

    Setting the displayIn radio mode you can choose betweenthe continuous display of the time or thecontinuous display of the station name/ frequency.

    Hold down the / DIS button 7until the desired feature appears onthe display.

    CD ModeYou can use this device for playingstandard audio CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs with a diameter of 12 cm.

    Risk of damage to CD drive!Single CDs with a diameter of 8 cmand CDs which are not circular( shape CDs ) should not be used.We accept no liability for any dam-age to the CD drive that may occuras a result of the use of unsuitableCDs.

    Starting CD mode If there is no CD in the drive, Press the button 9 .The flip/release panel opens. Gently insert the CD into the CD

    compartment with the printed sideuppermost until you feel some re-sistance.

    The CD will be drawn into the drive au-tomatically.Do not hinder or assist the drive as itdraws the CD in. Close the panel using light pres-

    sure until you feel it latch into place.

    CD playback begins. If there is already a CD in the drive, press the SRC button @ repeated-

    ly until CD appears on the dis-play.

    Playback begins from the point at whichit was last interrupted.

    Selecting a track Press one of the buttons on the ar-

    row block : to select the next orprevious track.

    If the or button : is pressed once,the current track is played again fromthe beginning.

    Fast track selectionFor fast track selection backwards orforwards: hold down either the or button

    : until fast track selection back-wards or forwards begins.

    Fast search (audible)For a fast search backwards or forwards keep the buttons : pressed

    until the fast search backwards orforwards begins.

    Random play (MIX) Press the button 5 MIX > . MIX CD appears briefly on the display,the MIX symbol lights up. The next trackplayed will be randomly selected.

    Stopping MIX

    Press the button 5 MIX > onceagain.

    MIX OFF appears briefly on the dis-play, the MIX symbol goes out.

    Sc anning tracks (SCAN)You can briefly listen in to all the trackson a CD. Hold down the OK button ; for

    more than two seconds. The nexttrack starts to play.

    Note: The scanning time is adjustable.

    Read about setting the scanningtime in the section Setting thescanning time in the chapter Ra-dio mode .

    Stopping SCAN and continuingplayback Press the OK button ; to end

    scanning.The current track will then continue toplay.

    Repeating a track (REPEAT) If you would like to repeat a track,

    press button 4 RPT > . REPEAT TRCK appears briefly on thedisplay, the RPT symbol lights up. Thetrack is then repeated until RPT is de-activated.

    Stopping REPEAT If you would like to end repeat,

    press the button 4 RPT > onceagain.

    REPEAT OFF appears briefly on thedisplay, the RPT symbol goes out. Nor-mal playback is resumed.

    Interrupting play (PAUSE) Press the button 1 > . PAUSE appears on the display.

    Ending Pause Press the button 1 > during the

    pause.Play then resumes.

    Changing the display To alter the display between track

    number and time or track numberand playing time, press the / DIS 7 button once or severaltimes for more than two secondsuntil the desired elements appearon the display.

    Traffic announcements in CDmode

    If you want to receive traffic an-nouncements whilst listening to aCD, press the TRAF ? button.

    Traffic announcement priority is activewhen the traffic-jam symbol lights up onthe display. Please see the chapter Traf-fic information .

    Removing a CD Press the button 9 .The flip/release panel opens to the frontand the CD is ejected. Carefully remove the CD and close

    the flip/release panel.

    CD changer mode

    Note: Information on handling CDs, in-

    serting CDs and operating the CDchanger can be found in the oper-ating instructions accompanyingyour CD changer.

    Starting CD changer mode Press the SRC button @ repeat-

    edly until CHANGER appears onthe display.

    Playback begins with the first CD theCD changer recognises.

    Selecting a CD To change up or down to a different

    CD, press the or button :once or several times.

    Selecting a track To move up/down from one track to

    another on the current CD,press the or button : once orseveral times.

    Fast track selectionFor fast track selection backwards or

    forwards: hold down either the or button

    : until fast track selection back-wards or forwards begins.

    Fast search (audible)For a fast search backwards or forwards keep the buttons : pressed

    until the fast search backwards orforwards begins.

    Changing the display To alter the display between track

    number and playing time or tracknumber and time or track numberand CD number, press the / DIS7 button once or several times formore than two seconds until thedesired elements appear on thedisplay.

    Repeating individual tracks orwhole CDs (REPEAT) To repeat the current track, press

    the button 4 RPT > briefly.

    REPEAT TRCK

    appears briefly on thedisplay and RPT lights up. To repeat play of the entire CD,

    press the button 4 RPT > onceagain.

    REPEAT DISC appears briefly on thedisplay and RPT lights up.

    Stopping REPEAT To stop the repeat function for the

    current track or CD,press the button 4 RPT > repeat-edly until REPEAT OFF appearsbriefly on the display and RPTgoes out.

    Random play (MIX) To play the tracks on the current

    CD in random order, press the but-ton 5 MIX > .

    MIX CD

    appears briefly on the displayand MIX lights up. To play the tracks of all the inserted

    CDs in random order, press thebutton 5 MIX > once again.

    MIX ALL appears briefly on the dis-play and MIX lights up.

    Note: In the case of CD changers CDCA 08 and IDC A 09, all CDs in thechanger are randomly selected. Allother changers first play all thetracks on a CD in random selectionbefore moving to the next CD inthe changer.

    Stopping MIX Press the button 5 MIX > until

    MIX OFF appears briefly on thedisplay and MIX goes out.

    Scanning all tracks on all CDs(SCAN) To listen in briefly to all the tracks

    on all inserted CDs in ascendingorder, hold down the OK button ;for more than two seconds.

    SCAN appears on the display.

    Stopping SCAN To stop scanning, press the OK

    button ; briefly.The track currently being scanned then

    continues play.Note: You can set the scanning time as

    required. Please see the section Setting the scanning time in the Radio mode chapter.

    Interrupting Play (PAUSE)

    Press the button 1 > . PAUSE appears on the display.

    Ending Pause Press the button 1 > during the

    pause.Play then resumes.

    Briefly displaying the time Press the / DIS 7 button briefly

    edly until CLOCKSET appears onthe display.

    Press the button : .The time appears on the display. Theminutes flash and can now be set. Set the minutes using the or

    buttons : . Once the minutes have been set,

    Set the hours using the or but-tons : .

    Press the MENU button 8 or OK; twice, once you have complet-ed the setting.

    Selecting the 12/24-hour clock mode Press the MENU button 8 . MENU appears on the display. Press the or button : repeat-

    edly until 24 H MODE or 12 H

    MODE

    appears on the display.

    Press the buttons : to switchbetween the 12 and 24-hour mode.

    Setting X-BASS boost

    The X-BASS boost can be increased insteps from 1 to 3. X-BASS-OFF means the function is

    Setting the level indicatorThe spectrometer (level display) brieflyprovides a symbolic display of the vol-ume and the audio control settings

    whilst you are adjusting them.When settings are not being made, thespectrometer indicates the original lev-el of the car radio.You can also set the type of spectromet-er on your menu.There are two types available.

    Selecting a spectrometer type Press the MENU button 8 . MENU appears on the display. Press the or button : repeat-

    edly until EQ DISPLAY appearson the display.

    Press the or button : tochoose between displaying SPECTRUM 1 and SPECTRUM2
