Brief Overview:
Uruguay is often overlooked with travelers more interested in Argentina or Brazil, but the lucky ones who do
make it into this tiny country are amazed at the low key, friendly atmosphere. Discover the diversity of
Uruguay as one day you may find yourself talking with local sculpture artists and the next trying your hand at
cattle herding on a traditional ranch. The Rio Negro flows through the center of the country, dividing north
and south. On the Atlantic coast, massive sand dunes and impressive beaches are easily accessible. Birdlife
is plentiful in Uruguay and bird watchers will have a lovely time scanning the treetops of the lagoons and
estuaries by boat. The world’s largest colony of Seal Lions can be found on Isla del Lobos. Participate in a
sea turtle conservation effort with a local NGO. In Punta del Este immerse yourself in the glam and glitz of
beachcombers on holiday and amaze yourself with the thriving art scene and interesting architecture of
Casapueblo. Let your imagination run away as Carnivale performers give you a taste of traditional music and
dances of candombe tango & milonga. Effortlessly blend into the culture and find yourself lazing the day
away while sipping mate and listening to stories of the Gaucho way of life under the vast skies of the interior.
