THIS SUMMER AT SAINT BARTHOLOMEW WELCOME  TO  SUMMER…  a  time  to  relax  and  enjoy with  family  and  friends.   While many  of  you will  go  away  on  vacation, others will remain here in Elmhurst.   If you go away….please remember to get to mass each Sunday.  This is so important!  No matter where you are there’s always a Catholic Church not far away.  For those who will be here….our  parish life doesn’t end!  The parish groups and movements will continue to meet.  The air conditioned chapel will be open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. ‐‐‐7 days a week!   Stop in to get cool and enjoy the quiet time for prayer.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A CATECHIST?  QUIERE SER CATEQUISTA?  In  a  few weeks we will  be  completing  this  year’s  faith  formation  program where  over  650  children  participated! We are in great need of more catechists – men and women 18 years and older who are willing to give up some of their  free  time  in  teaching and  sharing  the Catholic  faith.   Most of our  classes  take place on  Sundays –  some are  Tuesday evenings.  Classes are only 90 minutes long.  All volunteers must have a  background check, be Virtus trained (protection  of  children)  and  be  willing  to  take  courses  and  workshops  to  assist  you  in  becoming  a  parish  catechist. On Thursday, July 7 at 7pm we will have an introductory meeting  in the faith formation center (Whitney Ave) .  In order to attend you need to contact Sr. Lucy, with your name and contact information. You can contact her at stbartfaithformation@yahoo.com or 347‐303‐0380.  

Pronto  estaremos finalizando el Programa de Formación en la Fe este año. ¡Más de 650 niños participaron!  Estamos necesitando mas catequistas – hombres y mujeres de 18 años o más, dispuestos a dar un poco de su tiempo para  enseñar y compartir la fe Católica.  La mayoría de nuestras clases se realizan los domingos – algunas los martes por la noche.  Las clases son de 90 minutos. Todos los catequistas tienen que ser investigados, participar en el entrenamiento de Virtus (para la seguridad de los niños) y estar dispuestos a participar en algunos cursos y talleres para ayudarles en la labor como catequistas.  El Jueves, 7 de Julio a las 7pm comenzando con una reunión de introducción en el Centro de formación  de  fe  (whitney  Ave).    Para  participar  por  favor  comunicar  con  la  Hermana  Lucy,  para  dar  su  nombre  e  información de contacto. stbartfaithformation@yahoo.com o 347‐303‐0380.

SUMMER  VACATIONS 

During the summer our Sunday mass  attendance  will  go  down since many of  our  parishioners go  away.   We  strongly  encour‐age  everyone  to  look  for  a nearby  church  and  check  out their  mass  schedule  –  Sunday mass  is  important.    We  wish everyone  a  safe  and  relaxing time  away.    As  a  reminder…Saint Bartholomew Parish relies on  your  weekly  contributions.  When you return from your va‐cation  please  remember  to make  up  for  the  Sundays  you weren’t here  in the collections.  Thank you.

Durante  el  verano  nuestra  asistencia  a  la  Misa  del  domingo  disminuirá  ya  que  muchos  de  nuestros  feligreses se  van  a  otro  lugar.  Les  animamos a  todos a buscar una iglesia  cercana  y  revise  su  horario  de  Misa,  la  Misa  del  domingo  es  importante.  Les  deseamos  a  todos  un  seguro  y relajado  tiempo  de  descanso. Como  recordatorio...  la  Parroquia  San  Bartolomé  depende  de  sus  contribuciones semanales.  Cuando  regrese  de sus  vacaciones,  por  favor,  recuerde que debe compensar el domingo que no estuvo aquí en las colectas. Gracias.  

JULY 4TH – INDEPENDENCE DAY  The  parish  office will  be  closed on  Monday,  July  4.    Following the  9  a.m. mass  the  chapel  will also  be  closed  for  the  day.   Evening  groups  and  meetings are cancelled.

SUMMER MISSION APPEAL  THIS weekend we welcome members of the HEARTS HOME community who will speak  to  us  about  their  work  of  evangelization  in  the  church.    This  community  is  present  here  in  Brooklyn and was founded in France.  The second collection  next  week  will  go  to  assist HEARTS HOME and their important work in the church   

PEDIDO PARA  LA MISIÓN DE VERANO 

ESTE  fin  de  semana  les  damos  la  bienvenida  a  los  miembros  de  la  comunidad  HEARTS  HOME  quienes  nos hablarán sobre su obra de evangelización en  la  iglesia.  Esta  comunidad  está  presente  aquí  en  Brooklyn  y  fue  fundada  en  Francia.  La  segunda  colecta de  la próxima semana será para ayudar HEARTS HOME y su importante labor en la Iglesia.  

CLASES  DE ESTUDIO BÍBLICO  Ahora  ofrecemos  dos  posibilidades  diferentes  para  aprender,  estudiar  y orar  con  la  Biblia.  ¡Usted está invitado a participar en cualquier  momento  que pueda!  Si  tiene  una  Biblia, tráigala,  si  no,  vamos  a  ofrecerle una.  INGLÉS:  todos los lunes con el P. Replogle, SJ a las 11:30 am en el Centro de Formación de Fe. Whitney y Judge St.  ESPAÑOL: todos los miércoles con el P. Adriano a  las 7:30 pm en la capilla.
