THE PRICE OF FREEDOM

Today's readings promise that if we could escape from

the shackles of our aachments we would be happier,

freer, more peaceful. Luke's Gospel begins, "When the

days for Jesus' being taken up were fulfilled, he resolute-

ly determined to journey to Jerusalem." Aware of the

opposion and danger awaing him, Jesus went forward.

Naturally, brave people volunteered to join him. ButJesus cauoned them. Could they give up their aach-

ments to home and possessions, friends and family, con-

venonal responsibilies? A tough challenge, but not

unprecedented. Centuries before, Elijah had cricized

Elisha for wanng me just to kiss his parents good-bye

before following Elijah.

Just where would such a path take Elisha? Or Jesus'

followers? Or us? Paul tells us, "For freedom Christ set us

free; so stand firm and do not submit again to the yoke

of slavery." The outcome is freedom, but if the require-

ments don't give us pause, then maybe we're not payingclose enough aenon.

Please be aware that there are

changes in the parking paern to en-

sure safety for our parishioners. We

now have a new driveway into the parking lot on the

East Side of the parish. These changes took effect last

weekend. The east entrance to our parish parking will

now be opposite the tennis courts, NOT next to the

McKeon Center. Please follow the arrows and direcon

signs. Please be paent and love your neighbor as every-

one adjusts to the new parking paern.

kids zone, and you have a community event that draws

arsts, families, and visitors from across southern Califor-

nia and beyond. The carnival will bring fesve rides and

excing games immediately adjacent to the Arsan Fair,

beginning Fri., July 13th at 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., and con-nuing Sat. and Sun. from 1:00 to 10:00 p.m.

In addion to the arsan fair, Christmas in July boasts

a farmers market full of fresh flowers and locally grownfruits and vegetables, amazing deals at the popular Sister

Registration for Faith Formation requires Parish registra-

tion, if you are not registered in the Parish, you may do

so in the Parish office or online before enrolling in Faith

Formation.

GRADES K-8thFirst Communion preparation may begin in the secondgrade; the preparation for the Sacrament is a two yearprocess. A copy of the childs Baptism Certificate is re-quired.

You may register your child the following ways:

Fill out forms located in the Parish Office.

Print out forms from our website, and then mail

them to the Parish Office with your payment.

Paperless On Line Registration with Q-Pay at

sanluisreyparish.org

Tuition for each student is $55. Full payment of tuitionis requested at the time of registration, if possible.

PRE-CONFIRMATION & CONFIRMATIONEligibility: To enroll a student for Confirmation they

must have been attending a Catholic Formation program

or Catholic High School within the last two years and are

at least 15 years of age byJune 30, 2013. Any young

person not eligible to enroll at this time is directed to en-

roll in the Pre-Confirmation program in order to be eligi-

ble for classes the following year.

The fee for Pre-Confirmation is $55. The Registrationfee for Confirmation is still pending and will be an-nounced in a future bulletin

COLECTA DE RESCATE DETORNADOS Y DESASTRES 2013

Todas las parroquias de la Dicesis de San

Diego estn invitadas por la Conferencia de Obis-

pos de los Estados Unidos a tomar una colecta especial para el

Rescate de los Tornados y Desastres en apoyo a las dicesis

impactadas por los recientes desastres naturales. Esta colecta

tomar lugar el prximo fin de semana 13 y 14 de Julio durante

Para inscribir a sus hijos en el Programa de Formacin de Fe

(Catecismo) necesitan estar inscritos como miembros de la

parroquia, si an no estn inscritos en la parroquia, pueden

hacerlo en la oficina parroquial o por internet antes de inscri-

bir a sus hijos en el Programa de Formacin de Fe.

PRE-KINDER A 8 GRADOLa preparacin para la Primera Comunin empieza en el se-gundo grado escolar; la preparacin para el Sacramento esde dos aos. Se requiere una copia del Cerficado de Baus-mo del nio/a.

Pueden inscribir a sus hijos de la siguiente manera:

Completando la forma de inscripcin localizada en la Ofi-

cina Parroquial.

Imprimiendo la forma de nuestro sio de web, y envin-

dola por correo junto con su pago a la Oficina Parroquial.

PRE-CONFIRMACIN Y CONFIRMACINElegibilidad: Para inscribir a un estudiante para Confirmacinellos deben de haber asisdo a un programa de Formacin de

Fe o a una Preparatoria Catlica dentro de los lmos dos

aos y que tengan haya cumplido 15 aos de edad para el 30

de junio del 2013. Cualquier joven que no sea elegible para

inscribirse en este momento es dirigido a inscribirse en el Pro-

grama de Pre-Confirmacin con el fin de ser elegible para la

clase de Confirmacin el prximo ao.

El costo para Pre-Confirmacin es de $55. El Costo de la ins-cripcin para Confirmacin an esta pendiente y se anuncia-r en las prximas semanas.
