CONGRATULATIONS Ella and her sister, Kaitlin, had a very exciting visit from two police officers who gave them certificates for being Stay At Home Heroes! They had been nominated by their auntie for being brave and coping so well during lockdown. Ella just so happened to be dressed as a police officer (as you do!) when they arrived. Well done to the both of you. Your parents, friends and the Icknield School staff are very proud of you!

THANK YOU! WOW Gary (Banjo Class) what a brilliant 3-D piece of art you have created for your friends and staff at Icknield School reminding us of the very important message to “Stay Safe”. You must have spent so much time on this masterpiece. We all hope you and your family are also keeping well and staying safe too. We will display your other 3-D work of art in next week’s newsletter.

Tambourine Class Terrence is engaging with the class topic which is healthy eating. He is sorting pictures of fruit. Leon is playing games at home which involve counting. Karalina is building a tent in the garden.

Chimes Class Olivia and Missy are concentrating on improving their culinary skills while Olly is playing key-board and Abel is smelling the fragrances of herbs. Ava is using one of her sensory toys.

FE STUDENTS Connor is building with Duplo having requested it using his iPad. Charlie is doing a tremendous job of watering the plants in his greenhouse while Daniel is being very helpful by finding time to mow the lawn between doing his studies in his bedroom. On the sports side of things, Rachel has been out with brother Tim while he’s been biking and Tyrone has been playing bat and ball with brother Tinashe. Jazz has been busy painting a huge rain-bow to thank those who have been looking after us, meanwhile her parents have rather worryingly let themselves go during lockdown and have morphed into their surroundings (that’s what happens when you move out to the countryside—great photo!)

We’ve received some great photos this week of the students showing their schooling at home. Our children learn in extra-ordinary ways and it’s great to see the variety of methods being used. For example, Leon (top centre) is using a window to practise his numeracy and Frankie (bottom centre on this page) is opting for the easiest, most efficient and best method of cleaning a whisk after making a chocolate cake….

A few more photos of VE Day fun from the staff…. Trish is so stylish!

What wonderful weather to be enjoying a great bike ride!

BIRTHDAYS CELEBRATED THIS WEEK WERE… Luci, Triangle - 10 yrs old Ellie, Tambourine - 8 yrs old Barnaby, Victorious - 18 yrs old!! Happy birthday to you all.

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION—PLEASE READ! RE TRANSPORT—POST-16

__________________________________________ We have received the following from Hampshire Transport regarding Post 16/College Transport Requests: At present Hampshire Transport are unable to accept applications for Discretionary Transport Assistance for September 2020 and, due to Covid 19, there will be a delay. They are hopeful the link to the online form will be on their website ready for parents to complete soon and ask that parents wishing to apply keep checking the Home to School Transport page of the website for further information. Icknield FE - Advice for any students starting or continuing at the FE Centre in September 2020 These students will be required to complete a Discretionary Travel Request Form. A new form is required every academic year. Transport assistance, if provided, will NOT automatically continue. Therefore all current students at the FE will need to apply to re-apply as above. Concessionary Bus Pass Requests If a student is moving into the FE and you wish to apply for a concessionary bus pass rather than receive locally funded home to school/FE transport, you will not need to complete a Discretionary Travel Request Form. You will need to complete a Concessionary bus pass application form which can be requested by emailing [email protected]
