Newsletter: Mother’s day

On Tuesday the14th of May, GMIS celebrated mother’s day.

What we experienced during the day Being creative On the eve of Mother’s Day, all children from preschool and primarymade special and exquisite artifacts for their mothers. The craftworks were made of recycled material because GMIS advocates in using recycled materials to reduce global waste in the world. The craftworks were made with the assistance of the teachers.

On Tuesday, the 14th of May , the celebration kickstarted in the canteen at 15:00 pm. The hallway and canteen were beautifully decorated for the event to render a special feeling of appreciation to all the mothers. The show commenced with preschool performing

to lovely songs on mother’s day. Students from Kindergarten 2 recited a mesmerising poem on mothers using recycled materials asprops.

After the performances, a mini-disco was held wherein all the mothers were invited as well to dance and have fun with their children. After the dancing event, refreshments were provided to one and all which consisted of lemonade, water and homemade cakes. At the end of the event a heartfelt vote of thanks was given to all the mothers for having attended the event. The children and teachers were indeed grateful to the GMIS team who organised this event for all the mothers, who went back home with happy smiles on their faces.

What we learned during the day

Thinkers: All the children learned to make nice gifts for their mothers. They had to imagine and think , about which colors/patterns their own moms would like to receive as gifts.

Risk-taker: When a song is being performed, it can be challenging tostep out of one’s own comfort zone. So the children took the risks toshow their self confidence to others while acting out, saying poemsor singing songs.

Knowledgeable: The children had to remember what they know about their moms and use that information to create nice gifts as presents.
