Newsletter Week 2 Term 4 2019
Welcome to Term 4
Welcome back to all students and their families. I hope you had a fantastic spring vacation and are ready for a busy term 4. So the silly season starts, but we are so excited for all the fun activities that happen around the Christmas season. All party days for each stage have been organised and you can find permission notes through our school website. Year 4 are off to camp next Thursday and Friday, we wish them all well.
Our exciting STEM Expo is fast approaching on Tuesday 5th November. Be sure to RSVP through the link provided further on. Swim School starts in Week 5, we are offering places to all Year 2 and 3 students. If you haven’t secured a place, be quick as they are limited.
We welcome our 2020 Kindergarten students in Week 5 for their very first orientation at big school. Be sure to give a warm welcome to our littlest students. Have a fantastic term!
Year 6 Camp
Congratulations to all Year 6 students for an amazing camp last week. They were outstanding ambassadors for themselves, their parents, their teachers and Regentville Public School.
It was a very hectic schedule with stops at the War Memorial, Old and New Parliament House and Questacon. These visits were enhanced by the opportunity to watch parliament in action during question time, and a visit from our local member, Melissa McIntosh. Our guides in all places were excellent and the students asked some very insightful questions!
The highlight of the trip however, had to be our excursion to Thredbo. The weather was not great and the wind predicted to be quite strong so we weren’t even sure we would be able to take the chairlift up the mountain.

How exciting it was when not only the rainbows come out, but it snowed on us all!! What a bonus!
Activities were awesome and the Gladiator challenge was definitely a highlight. Add to that some fabulous night activities, true Regentville talent, and dedicated teachers and you have a recipe for a great Year 6 camp.
Let’s do it again some time!!!!
Kindest Regards, Mrs Gillian Blackmore School Principal

Year 6 Visit to Canberra
Our year 6 students recently participated in an educational tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. This involved visits to the Australian War Memorial, and Old and New Parliament houses. It was very exciting for the students to see question time in action! The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education.
To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the post excursion requirements.
