Please read all instructions before beginning. Pre-washing not recommended.

Yardages  and  Cutting  WOF is 42" width of fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge.

1 Northern Light Wolves panel • Cut (1) 32-1/2" x 40-1/2" rectangle with the wolves centered.

3/4 yard Blue tonal • (4) strips 1" x WOF; subcut into: (2) strips 1” x 40-1/2” and (2) strips 1” x 32-1/2” • (7) strips 2-1/4" x WOF for Binding.

1 yard Dark Purple tonal • (4) strips 2-1/2" x WOF; subcut into: (2) strips 2-1/2” x 40-1/2” and (2) strips 2-1/2” x 36-1/2” • (7) strips 2-1/2" x WOF; join strips short ends together with diagonal seams to make a long strip. Cut into (2) 62-1/2” strips and (2) 58-1/2” strips for outer borders

1/4 yard Medium Purple tonal • (1) strip 3-7/8" x WOF; subcut into:

(10) 3-7/8” x 3-7/8” squares.

1/4 yard Amethyst tonal • (2) strips 3-7/8" x WOF; subcut into:

(14) 3-7/8” x 3-7/8” squares.

1/4 yard Light Purple tonal • (2) strips 3-7/8" x WOF; subcut into:

(18) 3-7/8” x 3-7/8” squares.

2-1/2 yards Light Lilac tonal • (5) strips 3-7/8" x WOF; subcut into: (42) 3-7/8” x 3-7/8” squares. Then draw a diagonal line onto the WRONG SIDE of the fabric from tip to tip. • (4) strips 3-1/2" x WOF; subcut into: (8) 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” squares, (4) 3-1/2” x 9-1/2” rectangles and, (4) 3-1/2” x 13-1/2” rectangles. • (4) strips 6-1/2" x WOF; subcut into: (2) 6-1/2” x 24-1/2” rectangles and. (2) 6-1/2” x 32-1/2” rectangles.

4-1/2 yards of 42” backing fabric OR4 3/4 yards of 42” directional fabric• 2 strips 74” x WOF OR• 2 strips 82” x WOF directional backing OR2-1/4 yards wide backing fabric • 1 piece 74" x 82"

Batting • 1 piece 74" x 82"

Piecing the Border UnitsUse a 1/4” seam allowance for all stitching. Press all seams toward darker fabric where applicable.

1. Layer a 3-7/8” Light Lilac tonal square on top of a 3-7/8” Medium Purple tonal square, right sides together, and sew a 1/4” seam allowance on each side of the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line to make (2) Medium Purple Half Square Triangles. Repeat to make (20) Medium Purple Half Square Units.

2. Layer a 3-7/8” Light Lilac tonal square on top of a 3-7/8” Amethyst tonal square, right sides together, and sew a 1/4” seam allowance on each side of the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line to make (2) Amethyst Half Square Triangles. Repeat to make (28) Amethyst Half Square Units.

3. Layer a 3-7/8” Light Lilac tonal square on top of a 3-7/8” Light Purple tonal square, right sides together,and sew a 1/4” seam allowance on each side of the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line to make (2) Light PurpleHalf Square Triangles. Repeat to make (36) Light Purple Half Square Units.

4. Join (2) Light Purple Half Square Units, (2) Amethyst Half Square Units, (1) Medium Purple Half Square Units, and (1) Light Lilac 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” square, as shown below, to make a Left Block Unit. Repeat to make (4) Left Block Units. Then repeat with mirror opposite arrangement, as shown below, to make (4) Right Block Units.

5. Join (5) Light Purple Half Square Units, (3) Amethyst Half Square Units, and (1) Medium Purple Half Square Units, as shown below, to make a Corner Block Unit. Repeat to make (4) Corner Block Units.

6. Join (2) Medium Purple Half Square Units and (2) 3-1/2” x 9-1/2” Light Lilac rectangles, as shown below. Then sew a 6-1/2” x 24-1/2” Light Lilac rectangle to the top, as shown below. Repeat to make (2) Top / Bottom Central Block Units.

Completing  the  Quilt  Refer to the Exploded Quilt Diagram throughout the following steps.

1. Press each 1” x 40-1/2” Blue tonal strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. Repeat with the 1” x 32-1/2” Blue tonal strips.

2. Place the folded 40-1/2” Blue tonal strips on the long sides of the Wolf panel with the fold toward the center of the panel and the raw edges aligned. Pin to hold. Repeat with the 32-1/2” folded Blue tonal strips on the top and bottom of the Wolf panel. Machine-baste 1/8” from the raw edges all around each rectangle. Note: The Blue tonal strips will become dimensional flange strips when stitched between the panel and the Dark Purple tonal strips.

3. Sew the (2) 2-1/2” x 40-1/2” Dark Purple tonal strips to the left and right sides of the Wolf Panel. Press seams toward the Dark Purple tonal strips, leaving the folded Blue tonal strips flat on top of the panel rectangle.

7. Join (2) Medium Purple Half Square Units and (2) 3-1/2” x 13-1/2” Light Lilac rectangles, as shown below. Then sew a 6-1/2” x 32-1/2” Light Lilac rectangle to the top, as shown below. Repeat to make (2) SideCentral Block Units.

8. Join (1) Top / Bottom Central Block Unit, (1) Left Block Unit, (1) Right Block Unit, and (2) Corner Block Units as shown below to make a Top / Bottom Border Unit. Repeat to make (2) Top / Bottom Border Units.

4. Sew the (2) 2-1/2” x 36-1/2” Dark Purple tonal strips to the top and bottom of the Wolf Panel. Press seams toward the Dark Purple tonal strips, leaving the folded Blue tonal strips flat on top of the panel rectangle.

5. Sew the (2) Side Border Units to the left and right sides of the quilt center. Then sew the (2) Top / Bottom Border Units to the top and bottom of the quilt center.

6. Sew the (2) 2-1/2” x 62-1/2” Dark Purple tonal strips to the sides of the quilt center. Then sew the (2) 2-1/2” x 58-1/2” Dark Purple tonal strips to the top and bottom of the quilt center.

7. If using 42" backing fabric, remove the selvage edges from the backing pieces. Join the pieces on the long edges with a 1/2" seam allowance. Press seam open. Trim the edges to make a 74" x 82" backing piece. The seam will be top to bottom.

8. Layer the quilt top with the backing and batting pieces. Quilt as desired. Trim batting and backing even with the top.

9. Join the (7) 2-1/4” x WOF binding strips on the short ends with diagonal seams to make a long strip. Press seams in one direction. Press the strip in half along the length with wrong sides together.

10. Bind the quilt edges using your favorite method to complete the quilt.
