10 arrests were made by Patrol Division personnel for drug-related offenses during the month of

October.

Warrant Arrests 21 arrests were made on court-issued warrants during the month of October.

2 arrests were for individuals who turned themselves in at police headquarters.

Criminal and SC Complaints

39 Criminal complaint summonses/warrants were signed by officers within the Patrol Division during

the month of October.

Directed Enforcement Details

417 documented directed enforcement details were completed during the month of October.

Domestic Violence Incidents

35 Domestic violence calls were answered by patrol officers during the month of October.

6 Incidents involved an application for a Temporary Restraining Order.

11 Incidents involved criminal charges.

First Aid Calls

154 emergency first aid calls were answered by patrol officers during the month of October.

PESS Matters 18 incidents involved the use of the Psychological Emergency Screening Service (PESS) during the

month of October.

Training Assignments

On October 5, 2017, Lieutenant Christopher Cornelius, Sergeant Robert Surtees,

Special Officer Moeller and Officers Jeffery Slota, Scott Anderson, Dimitrios Tsarnas,

Evan Androcy, Alan Abrecht, and Jesse Dalziel attended Fall Firearms Qualifications

from1200 to 2000 hours at the Lacey Township Police Range. It was instructed by

Detective Samuel Della Sala and Officer John Simonson.

On October 5, 2017, Officer Michael Verwey attended DRE training in Bergen County

from 0800 to 1600 hours.

On October 6, 2017, Lieutenant Christopher Kenny, Sergeant Ronald Buxton,

Detective Adam Ewart, Special Officer T. Walsh and Officers Robert Duffy, John

McKee, Andrew Slota, Elton Copes, Patrick Watkins and Martin Julian attended Fall

Firearms Qualifications from 1200 to 2000 hours at the Lacey Township Police

Range. It was instructed by Sergeant Michael Eden and Detectives Samuel Della

Sala and Charles May.

On October 16, 2017, Officer Michael Verwey attended DRE training in Patterson,

NJ for evaluations exercises from 0800 to 1600 hours.

The week of October 16 to 20, 2017, Sergeant Robert Surtees attended Front Line

Supervision Training in Westhampton, NJ form 0800 to 1600 hours.

On October 23, 2017, Officer Julie Barcalow attended Arrest Search and Seizure

Update Training at the Ridgefield Police Department from 0800 to 1600 hours. .

On October 30 and 31, 2017, Sergeant Robert Flynn attended PASP Reconstructive

Seminar from 0800 to 1600.

Squad A attended Semi-Annual Fall handgun Qualification on Thursday, October 5,

2017. The training was held at the Lacey Township Firearms Range.

Squad B attended Semi-Annual Fall handgun Qualification on Friday, October 6,

2017. The training was held at the Lacey Township Firearms Range.

1 officer (Sgt. Flynn) attended 3rd Training NJSP Codis Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

The training was held at the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.

1 officer (Kenny) attended ODARA Training for Domestic Violence on Friday, October

20, 2017. The training was held at Stockton University Campus and was hosted by

the Division of Criminal Justice.

October 30, 2017 Lieutenant Christopher Kenny attended an OEM meeting from

On October 30, 2017, Officer Patrick Watkins worked a DDEF detail from1900 to

On October 31, 2017 Officer Dimitrios Tsarnas worked a DDEF Detail from 1830 to

2230 hours.

On Thursday, October 26, 2017, Lt. Christopher Kenny and Officer Jesse Dalziel

attended a Domestic Violence Response Team supervision meeting. The meeting

was held at Lacey Township Police Headquarters and hosted by Providence House.

On Saturday, October 28, 2017, members of the Lacey Township Police Department

were assigned to the annual Trunk-or-Treat event at Gille Park in Lacey Township.

The event was hosted by the Lacey Township Chamber of Commerce.

Megan’s Law Registrations

0 registrants reported to police headquarters for their annual registration requirement. 1 registrant

conducted a 90-day registration requirement. 1 new registrant was documented during the month as

moving into Lacey Township. 0 registrants moved from our jurisdiction. 0 current registrants

appointments were facilitated to update information. 0 registrants were removed from Megan’s Law.

Our jurisdiction currently has 27 Megan’s Law Registrants.

Prescription Drop Box

101 pounds of medication were removed from the Prescription Drop Box on 5 occasions with 1 trip

being made to Rahway to deliver 218 pounds of the medical items during the month of October.

Blue HART

2 adults sought assistance with addiction through the Blue HART Program in October. The enrollees

originated from Berkeley Township.

Training Assignments

On October 2nd and 3rd, DLt. Cornelius attended a block of training sponsored by the New Jersey

Chapter of the FBI National Academy. The annual seminar, “Policing in the 21st Century” included

guest speakers from various professions including a member of the United States Navy Seal Team, a

trauma surgeon from Cook County Hospital, and the SWAT team leader of the Pulse Nightclub shooting

in Orlando, Florida.

Each detective attended semi-annual firearm qualifications in addition to the use of force and pursuit

policies during October. In addition, Detective Della Sala acted as a range instructor on October 5th and

18th. The qualifications were conducted on the following dates:

Tyler Walsh, Matthew DeCataldo and Michael Moeller continue a modified FTO program. Their progress will be documented in similar fashion to that of full time officers. Lt. Sullivan will be keeping me apprised of their performance throughout the training period. PST. Trainee M. Fusciello is in his 5th month of training and is currently assigned to Shift 2. PST. F. Holmes will be overseeing his progress. Lt. Sullivan will be keeping me apprised of M. Fusciello’s performance throughout his training. PST. Trainee B. Zonin is in her 2nd month of training and is currently assigned to Shift 1. PST. K. Lawler will be overseeing her progress. Lt. Sullivan will be keeping me apprised of B. Zonin’s performance throughout his training. SLEO Edwards is still attending the Class II Police Academy at the Ocean County Police Academy. Lt. o On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, Officer Verwey and Officer Sarno attended

regularly scheduled SWAT training from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The training was

held at the Lacey Township Firearms Range.

4 SWAT callout was answered during the month of October.

o On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, the Ocean County Regional SWAT team was

activated at 4:15 p.m. Officer Verwey and Officer Sarno responded to Barnegat

Township in reference to serving a search warrant.

o On Thursday, October 12, 2017, the Ocean County Regional SWAT team was

activated at 12:45 p.m. Officer Verwey and Officer Sarno responded to Stafford

Township in reference to a barricaded subject.

o On Thursday, October 12, 2017, the Ocean County Regional SWAT team was

activated at 7:00 p.m. Officer Verwey and Officer Sarno responded to Barnegat

Township in reference to serving a search warrant.

o On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, the Ocean County Regional SWAT team was

activated at 9:30 a.m. Officer Verwey responded to Mays Landing in Atlantic

County in reference to an undercover extraction detail.
