1. Electric front windows. The Essentia front windows come

with the added convenience of auto up and down. This lets you

open and close the window all the way down or up with just one

touch of the switch.

COSMO.The Astra Cosmo has advanced technologies and design high-lights throughout. You can operate cruise control with speed limiter as well as the infotainment system straight from the leather steering wheel, while comfortable Morrocana seats and a front armrest add to the quality ride. In addition to all the features of the Astra Enjoy, Hill Start Assist comes standard and you can select from an extensive range of optional driver aids.

1. 17˝ alloy wheels. An attractive set of alloys is part of the

package on every Cosmo and gives this superbly designed

Astra the perfect finish.

2. Metallic door sill plate. Get a feel for the fine interior the

3. Electronic Climate Control (ECC). The ECC has dual-zone

settings so you can set a different temperature for each side

of the car, and it comes with an advanced compressor that

reduces fuel consumption by only cooling when it has to. A filter

system catches pollen, dust and unpleasant odours.

4. Highlighting the lines. Chrome detailing lifts the elegant

BITURBO.The BiTurbo versions of the Astra Hatchback and Sports Tourer both look fantastic, and their engines are the envy of the category. The 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI diesel with Start/Stop generates 143 kW (195 hp) and 400 Nm. It boasts a sequential double turbo system that delivers smooth, surging acceleration at any speed – by eliminating turbo lag.

The BiTurbo comes with unmistakable 18˝ alloys and a chassis

set extra low to the road, so it always looks poised to spring

into action. Outstanding extras add to the power potential.

With its unique front fascia with body-coloured logo bar

and dynamic side sills, plus a double exhaust in the rear bumper,

behind the Astra BiTurbo interior understood this and you reap the benefit the moment

you take your seat.

With the BiTurbo’s gear stick in your hand, the adrenalin really starts to flow. It offers

outstanding grip, for gear changes as smooth as the turbo itself. Red highlight stitching

makes the gear stick the perfect match for both BiTurbo trims – the tyre-track cloth

seats that come standard or the black leather option.

The one-track cockpit. Red sports bolsters, tyre-marked cloth Track seat trim, alloy

pedals and red ambient glow – the BiTurbo cockpit has sports performance written all

over it. At the push of a button, optional FlexRide lets you adjust the chassis settings to

suit your driving style.

1. FlexRide technology. With just a touch of the FlexRide

button, you can change the whole driving dynamics of your

Astra – from ‘Sport’ to ‘Tour’ and back again. Using Continuous

Damping Control (CDC) technology, FlexRide automatically

adjusts the dampers to give you excellent road holding. In ‘Tour’

mode, it chooses the best settings for gentler, straight-line

driving. Switch to ‘Sport’ mode and it instantly sharpens the response

of the dampers, steering, accelerator and automatic transmission

(if fitted). It also changes the colour of the ambient instrument

lighting – from a cool white to dynamic red.

2. Superior Watt’s linkage rear suspension. For maximum grip

and a comfortable ride on curvy roads, your Astra1 comes with

a Watt’s linkage rear suspension system. Watt’s linkage stabilises

the rear axle by reducing unwanted lateral movement.

The Astra’s German engineering delivers a smooth, stable ride and responsive handling. If you like to push your car hard through corners, Watt’s linkage rear suspension is a given.1 And if you want to switch ride settings from one trip to the next, optional FlexRide adaptive chassis technology adjusts ride settings to suit your driving style.

HEADLIGHTS WITH FORESIGHT.Intelligent driver aids are the hallmark of the Astra. It’s the first car in its class to offer intelligent Bi-Xenon Adaptive Forward Lighting Plus (AFL+) headlights, the third generation of the award-winning1 AFL system from Opel. AFL makes driving at night just as comfortable as during the day. It uses a front-mounted camera, a rain sensor and steering angle input to improve visibility and safety, automatically adjusting the direction and strength of your headlights to suit different speeds, manoeuvres, weather conditions and traffic situations.

LED Daytime Running Lights. The optional intelligent AFL+ headlight system comes

with energy-efficient LEDs that make your car more visible to other road users.

High Beam Assist (HBA). Part of AFL+ and optionally available also for halogen

headlights, HBA makes driving at night safer and easier by automatically dipping your

headlights when it detects other vehicles ahead. It switches the lights back to high

beam when the road is clear.

Increased High Beam. Thanks to

Bi- Xenon technology, Increased High

Beam boosts the range and brightness

of your headlights by up to 15 % when

they’re not dipped.

Adverse Weather Light (up to 70 km/h).

Activated by wipers or a rain sensor, this

setting improves vision in wet weather.

Town Light (30–55 km/h). Spreads the

light wider and lower. Activated by vehicle

speed and street lighting.

Pedestrian Area Light (up to 30 km/h).

Highlights potential hazards with a wider

spread of light (an extra 8° left and right).

Static Cornering Light (up to 40 km/h,

also works in reverse). Throws light

90° to the left or right, so you can see

better what’s around the corner.

Dynamic Curve Light (any speed).

The headlights turn into the curve by

up to 15°. Activated by steering angle

and speed.

Highway Light (over 115 km/h).

Raises, brightens and extends the beam to

140 metres – without blinding other drivers.

Country Road Light (55–115 km/h).

Wider and brighter than normal, for

a 70-metre dazzle-free beam.

SOME THINGS YOU CAN LEAVE TO YOUR ASSISTANTS.The Astra line-up1 offers a host of state-of-the-art electronic driver aids to make driving a whole lot easier – and safer too. Adaptive Cruise Control uses a radar to scan the road ahead while other options are part of the cutting-edge camera-based Opel Eye system.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Collision Alert (FCA) and Collision

Imminent Braking (CIB). ACC is an advanced, proactive version of conventional cruise

control for preventing bumper-to-tail collisions at speeds over 50 km/h. It uses a powerful

radar sensor to automatically maintain a safe gap (chosen by you) to the vehicle in front.

ACC also incorporates Forward Collision Alert (opposite page) and Collision Imminent

Braking (CIB), which is active above walking pace. If you close on a vehicle too fast,

CIB chimes and displays an icon. If a collision is likely, it cuts the response time of the

brakes and makes them more sensitive in case you or the system have to brake hard.

If a collision is unavoidable, CIB applies the brakes automatically to lessen the impact.

Opel Eye. The Opel Eye system (opposite page) feeds off a camera mounted behind

the windscreen that monitors the road ahead and relays what it sees to a series of

high-tech optional driver aids like AFL+ (previous page), Traffic Sign Assistant and

Lane Departure Warning.

Traffic Sign Assistant (via Opel Eye).

TSA continuously monitors road signs to

make sure you’re aware of the speed limit

and other restrictions all the time, even

when temporary signs are put up. The new

and enhanced version of TSA can read

more signs in more countries than ever

before, including electronic signs over

motorways.

Forward Collision Alert (FCA) and

Following Distance Indication (FDI).

At speeds above 40 km/h2, FCA triggers

visual and audible warnings if you

approach slower-moving vehicles too fast.

Following Distance Indication uses

a sensor to calculate the distance to the

vehicle ahead (displayed in seconds)

so the driver can slow down if need be.

Lane Departure Warning (via Opel Eye).

LDW gives you a warning if you start

drifting unintentionally out of your lane.

Crossing the line without signalling is

enough to activate the system and trigger

acoustic and visual alarms. You can switch

off LDW to suit driving conditions.

Side Blind Spot Alert (SBSA). SBSA

uses sensors to monitor parts of the road

you can’t see and flash a warning on the

relevant side mirror if a vehicle enters one

of your blind spots.

Systematic safety. In every Astra you

are surrounded by a high-strength steel

rigid passenger cell as well as front and

seat-mounted side airbags. ISOFIX anchors

for child seats are fitted as standard.

Additional safety options include curtain

airbags for the front and back seats and

the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System that

keeps your tyres at a safe pressure without

you having to stop for unnecessary checks.

It monitors each tyre individually and

warns you whenever one needs pumping up.

TAKE A RIDE ON THE SAFE SIDE.

The Astra isn’t just a popular car, it’s also one of the safest. In addition to comprehensive front and side airbag options, you can rely on a whole raft of active and passive safety technologies to make driving more convenient and give you peace of mind.

1. Active headrests. By moving towards you when they detect

a collision, these intelligent headrests cushion your head and

neck, helping to reduce the effects of whiplash.

2. Rear View Camera (RVC) and display. The RVC gives you

a clear view of the area behind the car on your high-resolution

infotainment screen, with a scaled grid overlaid so you can easily

judge the distance when reversing.

3. Advanced Park Assist (APA). Another great option that

helps you with parallel parking. This system alerts you when

you drive by a suitably sized parking spot. As you manoeuvre

into the space, it tells you how far backwards and forwards to

drive – and even shows you how far to turn the wheel.

4. Hill Start Assist (HSA). HSA lets you start and park easily

on steep hills. For a few moments it automatically holds the

brakes for you, to stop you rolling unintentionally backwards

or forwards into obstacles or other vehicles.

WE’VE GOT YOUR BACK.The designers and engineers behind the Opel Astra line-up put a lot of thought into even the smallest details and it’s those details that make all the difference to the ambience in the car – and to your well-being. The Astra gives you all the options, from dual-zone air conditioning and a heated steering wheel to ergonomic, heated – and very comfortable – seats.

Ergonomically designed (AGR) sports seats. These optional

front seats were crafted by Opel and found by independent

experts at Germany’s prestigious AGR organisation to be perfect

for your back. They let you separately fine-tune the lumbar

cushion in four directions to give your upper body extra support.

What’s more, the front of the cushion extends forward to take

the load off tired legs on long trips.

Driver’s Power Seat. Upgrade from

the ergonomically designed (AGR) sports

seat option to the driver’s Power Seat

and you can make key seat adjustments

electronically, all at the flick of a switch.1

Electric Parking Brake and centre

armrest.2 The push-button Electric

Parking Brake is more than a quick and

easy way to apply the handbrake.

It also gives you the added comfort

of an adjustable armrest in the front.

The armrest is also available as part of

the optional centre console and includes

two cupholders as well as a closed

storage compartment.

Heated leather steering wheel. Keep

your hands warm in a cold snap and

enhance your grip with this optional leather-

bound wheel. It’s the perfect add-on

for optional heated front seats.

Nanotechnology for seats. Opel uses

cutting-edge nanotechnology to create

a special TopTec coating that makes

selected seat fabrics3 water-repellent as

well as resistant to stains and germs.

The fabric remains breathable and soft

to the touch.

FlexFold automatic seat folding system.2

FlexFold expands the boot at the touch of

a button. This unique system lets you fold

down one or both of the split back seats

by pressing a button mounted just inside

the tailgate. Remove the rear seat cushions

to make even more space in the boot –

or give the people in the front seats the

option to move their seats back further.

PRACTICALLY YOURS.

Flexible, versatile and packed with clever storage ideas – the Astra line-up combines easy access with user-friendly interior design. 1. Flex Floor height-adjustable boot base.1 A robust, movable panel that creates

additional, size-adjustable storage under the boot of your Astra Hatchback.

With Flex Floor in the lowest position, the main boot space is higher. In the middle

position, it gives you a concealed compartment for valuables or breakables.

In the highest position, Flex Floor is flush with the rear bumper sill, making it easier

to lift heavy luggage in and out.

a supersized moulding for a 1.5-litre

bottle on the inside of the door, you can

store items you don’t need quite so often

from under the front passenger seat.

TAKE YOUR BIKE FOR A RIDE.Opel’s optional fully integrated FlexFix® bike carrier and the FlexFix® extension put up to four bikes right where you want them – in easy reach on the outside of the car.

The FlexFix® bike carrier system gives you the flexibility to get

out and ride whenever you like. Simply mount your bikes on the

back of the car and when you don’t need them anymore, slide

the carrier back into the bumper and out of sight. FlexFix® is an

option on the Astra Hatchback and Sports Tourer. Notchback

drivers can fit an alternative accessory that lets you mount bikes

on the towing hitch.

1. Easy boot access. Of course, when you’re carrying

your bikes on the back you might need to get into the boot

of your Astra. No problem. Simply tilt FlexFix® conveniently

out of the way.1 Your bikes stay securely fastened in place.

1. CD 400 Plus stereo CD radio.1 If you sometimes forget your

music at home, this is the car stereo that’ll make you kick the

habit. The CD 400 has six speakers, a seven-band graphic equaliser,

a Digital Sound Processor, 4 x 20 W output, a radio, an aux-in

port – and excellent sound. The CD 400 Plus variant, with double

tuner, is available with USB port to play and control mobile

digital devices.

2. Infinity Sound System. For serious sound addicts, the Astra

line-up offers the optional Infinity Sound System. It incorporates

a 7 x 45 W amplifier with seven channels and generates a total of

315 watts, in addition to an 8˝ subwoofer mounted back in the boot.

3. Plug-and-play USB and universal Bluetooth® hands-free phone technology. A USB

interface lets you hook up most MP3 players, smartphones or USB sticks to your Astra’s

infotainment system and access music, podcasts and other files via the steering wheel

remote. With the hands-free phone connection, you can make and take calls using

Voice Control, or via the controls mounted on the steering wheel.

4. Navi 900 Europe. This top-of-the-line navigation system gives you all the convenience

of hands-free Voice Control and bird’s eye views on a 7-inch (18 cm) high-resolution

colour display that’s virtually on a level with your line of sight. The travel guide covers more

than 30 European countries and comes on a fast-access SD card, so you can listen to a

music CD and still know where you’re going. It also includes a log book and point-of-interest

announcements. You can hook up external devices via USB or aux-in – for example to

upload your favourite photo as a screensaver – and the sound is clear as a bell. Like the

Navi 900, the Navi 600 is set deep into the dash to make it easy to read in bright light,

and it’s SD-card compatible. It lets you download and create points-of-interest (without

announcements) and will suggest fuel-efficient routes. For Voice Control and a log

book, upgrade to the 900.

FlexOrganizer® accessories. Together with optional FlexRail®

strips mounted on either side of the boot of your Sports Tourer,

the practical FlexOrganizer® system makes it easy to keep
