STATE TIMES NEWS SRINAGAR: The AntiCorruption Bureau (ACB)on Friday booked formerBuilding Inspector, twoward officers of SrinagarMunicipal Corporation forfraudulently issuing abuilding permission infavour of a person who haddied a year ago.

According to FIR 3/19registered with ACB, a ver-ification revealed thatSMC Srinagar has issuedbuilding permission No.267 of 2009 datedSeptember 3, 2009 in thename of one Ghulam QadirSofi who had alreadyexpired on June 14, 2008and the son of the deceasednamely Mohammad ArifSofi, resident of P.C DepotRehmat Abad QamerwariSrinagar in lieu of saidbuilding permission andunder well knit conspiracywith officers/officials ofSMC Srinagar, namely Ab.Salam the then Ward

Officer ( now Rtd.) Gh.Rasool Dar, the then Wardofficer, Mohammd Yousufthe then BuildingInspector constructed twocommercial structures inclear violation to the normsand sketch of building per-mission which was other-wise for residential pur-pose.

In this way the abovementioned officers/officialsof SMC by sheer abuse oftheir official positions con-ferred undue benefit uponthemselves and the benefi-ciary deliberately withulterior motives.

The above mentionedomission and commissionon the part of officers/offi-cials of SMC Srinagar andthe beneficiary amounts tooffences punishable undersection 5(1) (d) read withsection 5(2) J&K PC ActSvt 2006 and Section 120-B accordingly FIR is regis-tered and further investi-gation into the case is on.

STATE TIMES NEWS SRINAGAR:The Anti CorruptionBureau (ACB) on Fridaycaught a Zonal EducationOfficer and an Accountantred handed for demandingan accepting bribe forrelease of payment for twoexecuted works viz con-struction of boundary wallof Middle School WanporaKewa and BRC Qazigund.

On the basis of a writtencomplaint lodged by Gh.Mohammad Wani, son ofAb. Gani Wani, resident ofNaroopora KukarnagAnantnag alleging thereinthat ZEO Qazigund name-ly Imtiyaz Ahmad Hakeemwas approached by him forrelease of payment for twoexecuted works viz con-struction of boundary wallof Middle School WanporaKewa and BRC Qazigundwhich he delayed for longand finally demandedbribe of Rs.5000 fromhim.

It was further allegedthat payment for BRCQazigund was released bythe ZEO on January 17,2019 after receiving thebribe amount of Rs.5000from the complainantwhile the other paymentwas still kept withheld.

Moreover, when the com-plainant asked the ZEO torelease the second pay-ment of Wanpora KewaMiddle School BoundaryWall, the ZEO demandedfurther amount of Rs.5000and asked the complainantto keep the money with hisclerk/Acctt, Surinder

Singh in ZEO office sothat after receiving themoney he will release thepayment of the secondwork.

However, before payingthe aforesaid amount tothe accused ZEO, throughthe clerk/Acctt, the com-plainant who was againstpaying bribe, broughtRs.5000 along with thewritten complaint to theAnticorruption Bureaufor taking legal actionagainst the accused publicservants under law.

The trap team constitut-ed by ACB Kashmir head-ed by Dy. SP MohammadShafiq laid a successfultrap in which SurinderSingh a Clerk in ZEOOffice Qazigund wascaught red handed whiledemanding and acceptingbribe amounting Rs.5000from the complainant. Thetainted money was recov-ered from the possessionof the accused in presenceof independent witnesses.

FIR 3/19 has been regis-tered in Anti CorruptionBureau, Kashmir underSection 5(1) (d) read with5(2) J&K P.C. Act Samvat2006 and Section 4-A ofthe amended PC Actagainst the aforesaidaccused public servant.Later on the relevantrecords were seized andboth the Clerk (Sr Asst/Accountant) along withthe accused ZEO werearrested for the commis-sion of corrupt practices.Further investigations aregoing on into the case.

ZEO, Acctt arrested fortaking bribe
