Fr Peter Hoang PP is normally available at St John’s on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 10am and 3pm. He is normally available at St Joseph’s on Wednesdays and Fridays between 10am and 4pm.

Sacramental Reception

Baptism : on first and third Sundays at 12 noon Marriage: by appointment Reconciliation: approach a priest before Mass to make an appointment. First Communion and Confirmation: Preparation for this is conducted in our two schools; we also offer this preparation to State School children. Ring our office on 9481 7333 for further information.

All Souls Day—Friday November 2: 9:15am at St. John's (bring photos of loved ones) 7:30pm Vietnamese Mass at St. Joseph's. Brains of older people are slow because they know so much... People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains, scientists believe. Much like a computer struggles as the hard drive gets full up, so to do humans take longer to access infor-mation, it has been suggested. Researchers say this slowing down it is not the same as cognitive decline. The human brain works slower in old age, said Dr. Michael Ramscar, but only because we have stored more information over time. The brains of older people do not get weak. On the con-trary, they simply know more. Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for. It is NOT a memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise. SO THERE !! Remember that, you young people !!

Don’t forget our first Family Mass is to be held on Sunday, 4th November. Please support this initiative. Our Parish Fun Night “Spring Racing Carnival” will be held on Saturday, 10th November, from 7 till 11 pm at St Joseph’s Hall in Otter Street, Collingwood. Tickets are available at Mass at $25 each; children 6-12 yrs $15; under 6 free. Dinner, soft drinks, prizes. Don’t forget our parish Plenary Reflection with morn-ing tea and lunch in the Aikenhead Hall on Saturday, 17th November from 10:30-1pm. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Plenary Council, as well as to give your input personally and in dialogue with others.
