Message from the Director: What’s on your New Year’s Resolution List for 2015? Bringing in the New Year is a great time to reinvent yourself, set new goals or try new things. Let this Recreation Guide help you achieve those goals. Whether it is trying a new fitness program, drop in sport or adult program or perhaps it is ensuring that your child is getting his/her daily physical activity, we hope that you will find something that will bring you in to see us.

We have a few New Year’s Resolution specials to help inspire you – our “New to Us” promotion ensures that you can “try it before you buy it.” The “New Year’s Resolution” pass will give you incentive to attend the program of your choice; or our premier feature (and best value) our “2 for 1 Adult Program” (Line Dancing, Restorative Yoga, West Coast Swing, or Zumba). See page 2 for all the promotional details.

If you are new to Peachland or just new to the Community Centre, please stop by. We would love to tour you around and share our programs and opportunities with you.

We’re Listening!Customer Service Feedback

The District is continuously striving to develop new ways to improve service delivery to you.

Your feedback is very important to us. Customer Service Feedback Kiosks are located

at Municipal Buildings where you can give constructive feedback regarding your customer

service experience with the District of Peachland.

For further information contact Director of Corporate Services at 250-767-2647 or [email protected]

Local governments across the province are taking action to address the often devastating effects that climate change can have on communities. The easiest and most cost effective way to do this is to attempt to minimize the impact of climate change through action as opposed to reaction. This means that reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions through GHG reduction initiatives is imperative if major shifts in the world’s climate leading to costly clean up and rebuilding are to be avoided. Initiated in 2011, the Mayor’s Task Force is just one way that the District is finding to address this very important issue. The Mayor’s Task Force meets on the last Wednesday of every month and provides feedback to Council regarding climate programs and initiatives that the District may undertake. In 2013, the committee recommended that Council sponsor three classes at Peachland Elementary to participate in the Climate Change Showdown. During this challenge, students from Kelowna and Peachland reduced Greenhouse Gas emissions by an estimated 42.4 tonnes. Additionally, Mrs. Frey’s class from Peachland Elementary won the 2014 challenge! The committee meetings are open to anyone who may wish to attend. For more information contact Planning and Development Services at 250-767-2647.
