Strategy 2016 – Our Focus Areas
The 2016 negative vibe in South Africa…. Never Every at PlumRus – our

Life Right and Garages to Rent It’s not fair to utilize garages for store rooms while other resident’s
motor-cars are standing in the sun. Life is not about you only but about
what you can do for your neighbour in need.
Do not “store” give away to
people in need.

Food Market Feedback 5 December 2015
Once again we had a good Food Market on the 5th December. We had a
lot of visitors that came to shop from us. We had some new and exciting
stalls for all our Christmas shopping - dolls, jewellery, wooden pieces as
well as Brian our loyal supplier of jams and pickles.
George and Joey were hard at work on their famous potjies which sold
like hot cakes. Lucille’s pancakes flew and Sarel and Johan enjoyed
braaing all our meats. We had some new entertainment for the day.
Join us again on the 5th March 2016 for our next Food Market.

Doen weer so einde 2016.
A Very Big Thank You to CBA for making a difference in the
lives of our residents by sponsoring this television. We promise that it will be put
to good use.
Nogmaals baie
dankie aan almal vir al jul samewerking.
– Mev Janse Van Rensburg
uitgegee was, was so opwindend. Wat ‘n wonderlike idée. Die
tema was goed gedoen en gepas. Ete was heerlik.
Net
jammer waar ek so lekker kon dans voorheen, laat my knie my
nou in die steek. Die hele aand was heerlik, baie dankie.
- Mev Annetjie De Villiers
is as Koning. Ek het dit nie verwag nie. Die tema en opmaak van
die saal was baie goed uitgedink. Die ete was lekker en daar was
baie beskikbaar.
dobbelmasjiene baie opwindend. Ek was nooit ‘n groot danser
nie, my vrou was, maar het nogtans die musiek geniet en paar
passies gemaak. Dankie vir ‘n heerlike aand.
- Mnr Pierre De Villiers
10
Die manne dans was goed
en volgende jaar as God my spaar en ek is gesond sale k wys hoe
- Mev J Engelke
Ek het die Gala aand regtig geniet. Daar het so ‘n goeie gees
geheers – almal was vrolik en plesierig. Die musiek was nie so
verteenwoordig was by al Rusoord se bedrywighede, ‘n lekkerder
idée as afsonderlike pryse.
- Mev M Van Schoor

Wat het jy sinvol gedoen in Des 2015 & Jan 2016
Johan/Essie Die vakansie was wonderlik en batterye is goed
gelaai.
Sarel/Marlene: We spent time with our family and friends.
Bianca: I spent time with family and friends. Reflected
on the year of 2015 and things that I need to
improve on and would like to change in 2016.
Cindy: Always smiling no matter what
Lucille: Feeling very positive after my well deserved holiday
Sammy/Rhodene: Spend special time with family – Sammy’s Family
visited, it was awesome to see them.- Sammy spoil
cook, braai for us We visit my Dad that was
priceless the whole family together.
George: Gelees, geluister, gehoor en gedink. Natuurlik was
ons kosbaretyd saam met kleinkinders die mees
sinvolle aktiwiteit. The special time to listen, to
hear, to read and to think was priceless and
valuable. The most worthwhile activity was the
time spent with the children and grand children.

presies so is dit geskryf! Wie het die gebed gebruik? By watter
geleetheid? Waar kom dit nou skielik van-daan? Niemand weet.
Sien tog in genade
Verleen my
bring.
En maak my so
ontmoet, vertrouend op U belofte, dat U by my sal wees as ek deur die
donkere doodsvallei moet gaan, opdat my uitgaan vredevol mag wees
AMEN.

Retirement impossible for many in Australia Article taken from Business section, Page 42 of the Australian
Older Australians are in no rush to retire as financial factors prompt
many to stay in the workforce longer. New research by the
Commonwealth Bank and the Financial Services Council shows almost
three-quarters of older workers are keen to keep working, and age
discrimination against them is falling. Money is still the driving force for
the majority of workers aged 50 to 74, with 38 per cent saying they
work for financial security and another 23 per cent saying they do not
have enough money to retire. The report says people’s happiness about
working well into their 60’s has increased dramatically in the past three
years, and over half of 70-75 year olds have expressed some level of
interest in working. The proportion of older people who have
experienced age-related discrimination at work has more than halved
since 2012, from 28 per cent to 13 per cent.

What is a Leap Year? In case you hadn’t heard, this year is leap year. That means there are
366 days this year and February ends on the 29th instead of the 28th.
Leap Years are necessary to keep our calendar in alignment with the
rotation of Earth around the Sun. Without them, we would lose around
six hours off our calendar every year.
It takes 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds for the Earth to
revolve around the sun. Those extra hours are the reason we have Leap
Years.
In Fifth Century Ireland, St. Patrick set February 29th as the day when
women can ask for a man’s hand in marriage, so that women no longer
had to wait on men. Queen Margaret made a similar designation in
1288. Per her rules, if the man refused the woman’s proposal, he was
fined a kiss, a silk dress, or a pair of gloves

2016 weer wil laat lewe. Praat gerus met George.

Growing with the Garden Club
Dear Plumrus Resident,
The Garden Club was started early in 2015 with 10 members and now
we have 18 members. As you can now see, the gardens have really
blossomed thanks to the enthusiasm, bright ideas and hard work of the
club members. The new aloe and protea beds are coming on well and I
must suggest that everyone pay a visit to the inner courtyard of Health
Care and see all the new additions there. The irrigation system has
been substantially extended thanks largely to the advice received from
Mr Jannie de Witt (brother-in-law of Rene Healy). Unfortunately this was
done just before the recent Municipal announcement of strict water
rationing. We really do appreciate the totally free and willing assistance
received from Mr de Witt and it will be of lasting benefit to our gardens.
We had a very enjoyable year-end get-together sharing all our
suggestions for the 2016 gardens. We would like to take this opportunity
to thank George for his unfailing support during the year. Then we wish
to thank Johan and Sarel for the cheerful way in which they attended to
our many difficult requests. You will no doubt continue receiving
desperate cries for help during the present year. Please everybody pray
for rain.

So begin ek toe my
Ek besef toe hoe geseend ek werklik is. Ek wou nie graag weggaan van
my vorige woonstel waar ek 35jaar gelukkig was nie, en wou graag daar
Tog het die Here my
he, en ek besef hy bedoel dit regtig.
Alles is netjies.
By
ontvang.
Mrs Garwood’s Travels I had wheelchair assistance in Turkey, Istanbul airport. You are taken to
a little assistance waiting room. I think they forgot about me, they
shouted Birmingham. I shouted back “That’s me”. They had electrical
wheelchairs. They stand on the back of it and drive it with you in it. The
airports are crowded and you actually feel them skimming past people
and their luggage. They drive up to the front of cues. People don’t argue
they just move. I was holding on for dear life. What an experience. You
get into a bus and they drive for about 10min to the airplane and then
my flight took off. The assistance was great up until they dropped me off
at the bus and I had to help myself. When I had to get off the bus the
step was very high and what a struggle. When I got to Birmingham it
was nice because I didn’t have to stand in a cue for customs, everything

went smoothly. They got my luggage for me and took me to where my
son was waiting.
My son and I went for a walk in the forest which was rather close to
where he was staying. The highlight of my holiday was when my
grandson came from Nottingham to Telford which is about 160km apart.
I said this is a surprise Michael, He said “yes gran I am coming to take
you to London tomorrow”. Just before we got to Windsor the car had
problems, the gears jumped out, we managed to get to a parking area
and we then walked up to Windsor Castle just before “changing the
guards”. Michael took a video of it. Plus minus R6 000 transfers to
roughly about 289 pounds.
From the Windsor Castle we took the chube.
We got in and out of chubes like it was going out of fashion. We went to
Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, The Eye and a cruise boat. We walked past
Downing Street. We took a walk into Harrods and had a few snacks.
We went to have something to eat at Garfunkel’s. When we eventually
wanted to go home the car just would not start. So Michael phoned his
insurance and they sent someone to check it out and then phoned for a
flatbed truck. They can only travel for a certain amount of hours per day
so the car was loaded on the truck and we got in the back of the double
cab. So we drove a certain distance from there they then unloaded the
car and we got out of the truck and sat in the car until another truck
arrived. They loaded the truck and we got into the back again. He went
a very short distance and unloaded the car again. This happened 3
times. Eventually we went all the way to Stanfield’s. Then they took us
to Michael’s girlfriend’s home so that we could sleep there as we only got
there at 07:30 the next morning. David came to Ollerton to fetch me.
We then went to a dam. There are a lot of dam’s and swans in the area.
Each swan has a tag on their legs. They belong to the queen. Then we
went to see an old building that they are busy restoring. The wealthy
stay in mansions as it shows off their wealth. We also went to Lincoln
Abbey. It’s the biggest abbey in England. It is huge, you have to pay to
go in but it is beautiful. They also have a restaurant in there. They were
busy restoring the outside of the building at the time of our visit.
Opposite this is another castle with a walk way right around on the top
of the wall. In one of the steeples there is a spiral staircase going up into
the tower where you can get a view from the top. This staircase was
very narrow.
On our way back my son bought me a Cornish Pastry made in Cornwell.
They also have aqueducts – narrow waterways – they have these long
narrow boats and some people even live on them.
We went through the forest a couple of times. This was my first ever trip
overseas. My only wish is that my husband was there with me.

The Computer Swallowed Grandma
The Computer swallowed grandma
Yes, honestly, It’s TRUE!
She pressed “Control” and “Enter”
And disappeared from view.
It devoured her completely
The thought just makes me squirm!
She must have caught a “virus”
Or been eaten by a “worm”...
I’ve searched through the “recycle bin”
And “files” of every kind
I’ve even used the “internet”
But nothing did I find!
In desperation I asked “Google”
My searcher, to refine
The reply from him was negative
Not a thing was found “on line”
So if inside your “inbox”
My grandma you should see
PLEASE “copy”, “scan” and “paste” her
And send her back to me!!
