JULY’S THEME IS “PLANNING”.

• Planning is not just for big business. • Smart Small Businesses plan a lot (for the good

and the bad). • It needs to be part of what we do. • We need to treat it as a priority. • We need to learn how to do it.

WHAT HAVE WE COVERED IN THE OTHER MATERIAL?

• What does planning really mean? • Why do we need to plan? • Where do people go wrong with planning. • Does it have to be boring? • How do we do our planning? • Our recommended videos. • And our articles.

SO WHAT DO WE NEED TO PLAN? • Your day, week, month and year. • A specific project • How our business is performing • A specific issue facing the business • A specific opportunity for the business • A crossroad • The coming year • And of course many others

A RAINY DAY PLAN…

SO LET’s HAVE A LIST TO FOLLOW TO MAKE IT EASIER1. Start with a clear vision of what you want to achieve. 2. Treat planning as a priority not something to do if and when you get the time. 3. Work out what type of planning you need to be doing now. 4. Determine the environment to do your planning. 5. Figure out who you want involved. 6. What do you need to prepare ahead of time. 7. Have an agenda. 8. Do the planning. 9. Have an action plan, timeline and responsibility list. 10. Have a good plan to monitor progress.

A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THE CLUB

It would be great to get a few people asking questions? Can you

stage a few?

WHAT DO SOME OTHER SMART SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT PLANNING?

I’ve done a shout out on SMALLVILLE - we will get some one liners that we can talk to and we will credit these to the author - kinda cool to have other people’s input.

A FEW INTERESTING QUOTES ABOUT BUSINESS PLANNING…

(Depending on time we will discuss these). “Strategic planning is worthless unless there is first a strategic vision” John Naisbitt

“A goal without a plan is just a wish” “Hope is not a strategy”

“If the plan doesn’t work change the plan not the goal” “Ask yourself if what you’re doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow”

“A successful man is one who finds out what is wrong with his business before his competitors do” “Never begin the day until it is finished on paper” Jim Rohn

“Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now” Alan Lakein
