what is Poken?Your social business card

meet.Simply “touch & glow” to share your social business card.

connect.Plug your poken into any USB port and go to poken.com/go to register.

stay in touch.View people’s business cards online, one-click connect on social networks, and sync all contact details with Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.

• Poken technology is an innovative networking "ice breaker" allowing participants the ability to exchange programmed information with each other - essentially an electronic business card.

• By simply touching Poken devices, pertinent business information is exchanged.

• The Poken devices are pre-programmed with very basic information (e.g. Phone, email, office location, etc. This can be very robust based on registration data collected.)

• Attendees are encouraged to update their contact information adding relevant business data.

• In order to help facilitate Poken usage and to encourage relationship building, a networking event has been developed.

arriving at the eventWelcoming

Upon arrival attendees receive:

1) branded poken

2) A6 Informational flyer** (optional)

As soon as they arrive, attendees receive a poken and an explanation of how it works.

**Note: The A6 flyer is recommended because Poken is a new product. You may also have well-trained staff onsite to assist attendees. Either way, attendees must

understand the product, if they are to make the most of its networking capabilities.

arriving at the eventGetting Started

Pre-registration & Onsite Support, though optional, are highly recommended

With poken in hand, attendees:1) Are directed to the Poken booth

• Posters & or flyers indicate where to go.

2) There, onsite support help them out

• Consisting of you, hired hosts/hostesses, OR Poken-trained people

• They further explain the product, if necessary

• They link their poken to attendee’s pre-created account using the QuickLink feature.• You must have internet onsite for the

QuickLink feature. We highly recommend the fastest possible connection for the most efficient experience.

ARRIVING LATE: If an attendee arrives late, they can either register later when the onsite support people are available or they can register by themselves at their convenience.

IF YOU OPT OUT OF PRE-REGISTRATION & ONSITE SUPPORT: Inevitably fewer people will register thus failing to sync their poken, not making the most of their networking experience. It is imperative, then, that you communicate effectively how poken works so people will be more encouraged to use it. Posters, flyers, and verbal announcements can improve the likelihood of their registering later.

during/afterThe Member Hub: Communications

The Communications:1) Pre-load profiles of key people such as

keynote speakers or account managers.

2) Enable attendees to “tag objects” to receive more information.• Ex. At a car show event attendees can

poken the cars in which they are interested. The profile of each car then appears in their social timeline where they can get more information. The client also has the details of the attendee and can send them information.

3) File Upload Widget allows your client to distribute files to attendees during and after the event.

USIT and Procurement guidelines• No agendas or meeting information can be loaded on the hub

for the event • We will encourage participants to change/customize their

passwords (we give them a standard password at the beginning of the event)

 • Poken units are ordered through Procurement – contact is Pam

O’Reilly. A shopping cart system is set up using a purchase order billed to a WBS code.

Poken Requirements• It is recommended that a Poken Tech be present on-site during

the event to help field questions and trouble shoot any issues with the devices.

• Loaner laptops. It is recommended that these be rented instead of using USIT as the laptops require the latest version of Java, Internet Explorer and a web cam (USIT cannot guarantee a webcam).

• It is recommended that a Poken synch station be set-up during the event.

• 47-52” Plasma Screen to show Poken Hub Video and/or Leader-

board – with real time networking results during the event.
