The Swiss Tech Convention Center, Lausanne The future of international conferences

The Swiss Tech Convention Center of the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) will open its doors in late 2013. The modular system is the main feature of this centre. It is intended for conferences, seminars and business conventions and equipped with ultramodern technology. Its auditorium with 3,000 seats can be transformed into a banquet hall in a few minutes by retracting the steps simply by pressing a button. As to the basement of the centre, it can take the shape of a giant hall or can be separated into 15 independent rooms.

Beaulieu Lausanne In the heart of the city

In the Olympic capital, the Beaulieu Lausanne exhibition and conference centre is tailored for large-scale events. This ideally located contemporary building has a surface area of 50,500 square metres, thirty-four conference rooms, as well as Switzerland’s largest theatre. Every year, some twenty thematic shows attract over 600,000 visitors. The building is currently being renovated and modernised in order to boost the largest exhibition centre in the Canton of Vaud.

2m2c Montreux Music & Convention Centre An exceptional venue

On the shores of Lake Geneva, this centre of 18,000 square metres is located next to palaces and the Montreux Casino. The “2m2c”, as its brand name, is totally modular and multifunctional. It is divided into two main buildings: the Miles Davis is used primarily for events with up to 1,200 people, while the Auditorium Stravinski, which is renowned for its acoustics, can receive 3,500 persons, such as during the Montreux Jazz Festival, which sees a plethora of artists of world renown each year.

The Lausanne choreographer Maurice Béjart, who founded the Béjart Ballet Lausanne and the Atélier Rudra-Béjart, was a major figure in contemporary dance. His company, which consists of some forty dancers, performs not only abroad but also in Lausanne in the months of June and in December.

Prix de Lausanne January / February

Every year, this international competition for young artists attracts hopefuls of classical ballet and contemporary dance from around the world. The selection tests and the finals are held at the Palais Beaulieu in the centre of Lausanne. They are open to the public.

Rigoletto, Don Juan or La Bohème are just some of the classical works that were presented in the past few years.

Paléo Festival Nyon July

Every summer, more than 225,000 music lovers attend the open-air festival in Nyon, one of the largest in Europe. Rock, folk, French chanson, reggae, world music, and street theatre are performed on six different stages, totalling nearly 120 concerts over six days.
