NOTE FROM THE ORGANIZERS

THE HISTORY OF THE FAIR

FIGURES FROM THE 2016 FAIR

The 2017 Loire Wine Fair will take place on SUNDAY 5, Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 of February. Its major goal is to foster the emergence and reinforcement of meetings and discussions between winemakers, wine merchants and winegrowers’ cooperatives from the Loire region on the one hand, and French and international buyers from the Hotels/Bars/Restaurants and food sectors, wholesale and retail trade in wine and spirits on the other hand, with more and more tasting sessions!

The Loire Wine Fair was created in 1987 by Angers Exhibition Park.

The Loire Wine Fair is the one and only European Fair dedicated to a single vineyard: the Loire vineyard.

It is exclusively dedicated to professionals, and enables French and international wine buyers to discover the new vintage before its marketed and before anyone else.During 3 days, exhibitors from the Pays Nantais, Anjou-Saumur, Touraine and Centre Loire regions will offer the 9000 professionals attending the fair the opportunity to discover the variety and freshness of the Loire vineyard, relying on a wide diversity and high quality of the red, rosé and dry or sweet, still or sparkling white wines.

The Loire Wine Fair is designed to pave the way. For more than 10 years, it has been interested in the connected community of wine. This year, a specific zone is created to host 17 start-ups. The many initiatives and innovations radiating from the booming French Wine techs will thus be fully promoted.

Digital tasting pads, apps enabling to share the best from a Wine list with one’s fans, smart cellar for connoisseurs, urban logistics management solutions for professionals…: pitched presentations from each of these young companies will highlight the industry’s conversion to the digital world, be it from a producer, distributor, or customer perspective. They will also help draft the wine future: a connected and ever more shared product, with solutions already embedding new technologies so as to best preserve and manage it, for the benefit of connoisseurs and professionals.

Throughout the Fair, prospective conferences will focus on Wine 2.0. Among the various topics addressed: artificial intelligence and business relationship, presentation of the barometer for Digital Wine relating to business practices, e-commerce evolution…

FREE TASTING AREA The Loire Wine Fair will once again give access to its famous Free Tasting Area. The area welcomes visitors and offers them a selection of wines made by the wine makers. They will be able to taste and choose freely their wines and discuss glass in hand, with the wine makers displaying their products. More than 300 selected wines are expected in the two tasting areas: red and rosé wines in the Grand Palais, white and sparkling wines in the Amphitéa. This will for sure be a nice way to start enjoying the pleasant atmosphere of the Fair!

THE OPEN WINE BOX: A DEDICATED AREA FOR BIB!In 2015, 35 % of the wines consumed were offered in BIB containers. When focusing on the Val de Loire region, it may be noted that the share of BIB over the whole production of the region is progressing significantly (BIB Loire Wines sales increased by more than 31 % over the last 3 years), accounting for almost a quarter of the production in 2015. Consequently, the Loire Wine Fair provides, in partnership with Vitisphere, an open tasting space dedicated to BIB.5

Every year, Angers provides professionals and connoisseurs with an intense week focused on Loire wines and cuisine. Structured around the Loire Wine Fair, the high point of the week, a full set of events has been built up to what might be viewed as the “Loire Experience”. Angers Exhibition Centre will be the focal point for the professional tasting sessions and will gather 450 exhibitors for 3 days.

Demeter France wines biodynamic certification agency partnered with the « Levée de la Loire » and the Loire Wines Fair through focusing on wines produced by French and international winemakers. 70 international exhibitors are expected at the 2017 Fair.

6 and 7 February, at Angers Exhibition Centre

In 2015, the « Levée de la Loire » organic wine producers association joined, with great success, the « in » part of the Fair. The number of exhibitors is increasing each year. Consequently, in 2017, more than 150 wine makers will propose tasting sessions, thus giving a broad overview of the organic production of the vineyard.
