Quick News August 18, 2014 Superintendent’s Message John P. Kronour, Ph.D. This is one of my favorite times of the year. This morning the staff at Tipp City Exempted Village Schools assembled for the annual Welcome Back Gathering to kick off the 2014-2015 year. We introduced our new employees, shared good news, and talked about the many positives in our district. We truly have a great staff, a great community, and a great student body. You could feel the excitement and enthusiasm in the room that will help us continue our tradition of excellence. It is evident that our employees are committed to giving students their very best on every day. I am proud to work for a district and live in a community that places a premium on education. It is going to be another successful year! This is one of my favorite times of the year This morning the staff at Tipp City

Exempted Village Schools assembled for the annual Welcome Back Gathering to

kick off the 2014-2015 year We introduced our new employees shared good news

and talked about the many positives in our district We truly have a great staff a

great community and a great student body You could feel the excitement and

enthusiasm in the room that will help us continue our tradition of excellence It is

evident that our employees are committed to giving students their very best on every

day I am proud to work for a district and live in a community that places a premium

on education It is going to be another successful year

Welcome to the Class of 2018 Tippecanoe High School welcomed the Class of 2018

during Freshman Orientation The day long program is

designed to ease the first day jitters and transition to high

school Students toured the building got their schedules

found their lockers and learned about the many

opportunities in high school Upper class students as

pictured below were eager to show the newcomers

around THS

TMS 6th GRADENEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

Students and their families enjoyed Tippecanoe Middle Schoolrsquos

6th GradeNew Student Orientation The annual program is

designed to allow students to get acquainted with their new school

learn about extra-curricular activities and meet their teachers

Perhaps the highlights of the evening are getting schedules going

ldquofrom class to classrdquo to feel more at ease with the floor plan and

meeting the teachers

Welcome Class of 2027 Kindergarten Orientation

Kindergarten Orientation is scheduled for Thursday August 21st Students in

POD 1 should attend with their families from 500 PM to 545 PM Students in

POD 2 should attend with their families from 615 PM to 700 PM

Important Messages from Nevin Coppock Transportation Any transportation change requests for the end of the day must be put in writing and

submitted to the office on the morning the change is needed

Transportation change requests for emergency situations MUST be called in by noon

Last minute requests will not be considered

Change of Clothes Kindergarten and first grade students need a change of clothes to have on hand in the event of an

accident or clothing mishap such as a broken zipper Parents should put the clothes in a plastic

bag with the childrsquos name on the outside This will be kept in the studentrsquos locker

The Book Room -- Fruits of Labor and Volunteerism

Thank you to the staff and other volunteers who donated

260 hours of their time this summer to move the entire

Book Room They organized sorted and cataloged

hundreds of books for the leveled reading program at

Nevin Coppock After that was completed they stocked the shelves and decorated the room to promote a love for

reading This is yet another example of the power of collaboration and gives the district a gem for students

Gearing Up for Project MORE

The district is excited to bring back Project MORE The volunteer structured reading program pairs

community members with students who need help with literacy The one-on-one instruction

significantly increases studentsrsquo reading comprehension fluency and confidence If you are interested

in becoming a part of this program please call Dr Gretta Kumpf at 667-8444

THANK YOU TO OUR MAINTENANCE AND CUSTODIAL CREWS

Repair Replace Enhance The districtrsquos

maintenance and custodial crews worked

tirelessly all summer to clean classrooms

and prepare our schools for the return of

staff and students Their hard work

MEET THE TEAMS AND BAND It was a beautiful night for the annual Meet-the-Teams and Band Night It was a great way to kick off the season and build the spirit for Tipp City athletics

GOLF SUCCESS The Tippecanoe High School girls golf team won the Versailles Invitational on Thursday August 13 with a score of 361 Erika Brownlee came in second overall with an 81 Sammie Rowland and Allie Chitwood also finished in the top ten They also won the CBC preview tournament last Friday in Bellefontaine and came in second at the Covington Invitational earlier in the week Erika Brownlee won the individual honors and came in second at the CBC preview Tori Merrick had top tens in each of these events Pictured left to right Sammie Rowland Allie Chitwood Erika Brownlee Tori Merrick

Tippecanoe Athletic Boosters Buzz The Tippecanoe Athletic Boosters would like to thank the Tipp City community for its continued support during

the annual Booster Fund Drive Because of the communityrsquos generosity the club raised nearly $15000 on the

evening of August 12th One hundred percent of these donations go back to our 7th - 12th grade student athletes

across all sports Critical equipment uniforms and training is purchased thanks to your generosity If you

All donations are recognized in our athletic program A sincere thanks to our fall athletes parents of athletes who

drove and Booster members who worked the drive

GOLF SUCCESS The Tippecanoe High School girls golf team won the Versailles Invitational on Thursday August 13 with a score of 361 Erika Brownlee came in second overall with an 81 Sammie Rowland and Allie Chitwood also finished in the top ten They also won the CBC preview tournament last Friday in Bellefontaine and came in second at the Covington Invitational earlier in the week Erika Brownlee won the individual honors and came in second at the CBC preview Tori Merrick had top tens in each of these events Pictured left to right Sammie Rowland Allie Chitwood Erika Brownlee Tori Merrick

evening of August 12th One hundred percent of these donations go back to our 7th - 12th grade student athletes

The district is excited to bring back Project MORE The volunteer structured reading program pairs

community members with students who need help with literacy The one-on-one instruction

significantly increases studentsrsquo reading comprehension fluency and confidence If you are interested
