They were precise when they were supposed to work together. They were energized when they were free styling. They were completely within themselves. The owned their experience. They were having FUN. It was awesome... in every sense of the word. With Maurice teaching, my son learned how to express himself and to feel the music run through his core. He embraced everything, made friends, became part of a team, and loved every minute of it.Asher’smom

medicationsIf your child must take a medication during the camp day, the Ann Arbor Public Schools medication policy states that the on‑site administration of any medication requires written authorization on file. The authoriza‑tion must be signed by both a physician and a parent, whether the medication is prescribed or over‑the‑counter. All medica‑tions must be in their original containers and clearly labeled.

Camps follow the district policy governing the use of Epi‑pen injections for insect or food allergies. It is the parent’s responsibility to communicate any special concerns to the Camp Coordinator and to provide any nec‑essary training to camp staff. We require at least two weeks notice for staff to be trained in the use of the Epi‑pen.

AllergiesIf you receive a message or see a sign indi‑cating that a building or area in a building is “no nut” or “dairy free,” please be respectful of that rule if you send food with your child. Staff will follow the Ann Arbor Public Schools’ guidelines for managing life threatening food allergies.

If your child has an allergy action plan, please let us know at least two weeks in advance of your child’s participation in the camp. Call 734‑994‑2300 ext. 53219.

Packing a Safe lunchPacked lunches at camp are often kept at room temperature for 4‑6 hours. Foods which will be kept at room temperature need to be selected and handled carefully to prevent food poisoning. There are two ways to keep a packed lunch safe to eat. One is to choose foods which may safely be kept at room temperature. The other is careful handling of foods.

camp t-ShirtsMany camps provide a T‑shirt for each camper. Please indicate the t‑shirt size of your child on the registration form. You will be required to complete this information when you register online.

trained Staff make the Difference!Staff members receive ongoing training in the areas of child development, qual‑ity environment, programming, behavior management and health and safety. Each camp has at least one staff member who is CPR and first‑aid certified.

entering or graduating?Throughout this catalog you will find that the grades listed are for children who are entering that grade indicated this fall (2011‑2012). Safety Town Program and the Safety Town Camp is only for children entering Kindergarten this fall, 2011.

register early, Save moneyRegister by May 8th and pay the Early Bird fee. This gives you significant savings each week of camp.

multi-Week Discount Any child enrolled in 5 or more weeks of full day summer camps (Quest, TNT, Green Adventures and all Literature and Enrich‑ment camps) in one transaction will receive 10% off the total cost. See page 14 for more information. You will not receive a discount if you enroll the same child in one camp this week and the same child next week in a second transaction. To receive the discount you must pay for the five or more weeks of camp at the same time. There is a multi‑camper enrollment discount for Rock Band Boot Camp or Jazz Camp, page 35.

Safety FirstEach day a parent or guardian of preschool and elementary aged children must accom‑pany the child(ren) into the camp and sign the child in. At the end of each day of camp, the parent or guardian must come into the building to pick up the child and sign the child(ren) out. If you are sending a relative or friend to pick up your child, we ask that you provide a written note giving that person permission.
