RENO, Nev. – After holding one of soccer’s biggest names (Didier Drogba) and Phoenix Rising FC to a tie at home, Reno 1868 FC is prepared for a quick turnaround against LA Galaxy II.

Reno will meet LA for the first time this season on Monday at Greater Ne-vada Field (7:30 p.m.). Monday’s match will be the only professional soc-cer match played throughout the U.S. Soccer Federation’s major leagues.

Reno 1868 FC has been one of the most explosive teams in the entire USL, especially at home.

Friday’s tie marked the fifth-straight match that Reno has remain unbeat-en inside the confines of Greater Nevada Field.

Reno has been led by dangerous goal-scorer Dane Kelly (12 goals this season) and a healthy defense that has helped Reno post a 15-2 goals scored-to-goals conceded ratio in the past five matches at home.

LA has won just one match out of its past five, a June 17 win over Rio Grande Valley FC. The team finds itself second to last in the USL’s Western Conference with just 11 points this season to go along with its three wins.

Fans are encouraged to stick around after the match for post-match fireworks as Reno 1868 FC kicks off the Fourth of July celebrations at Greater Nevada Field.

Matt LaGrassa / 20 / Midfielder LaGrassa, 23, played four years at California PolytechnicState University. During his time at Cal Poly, he also playedfor the Des Moines Menace and Ventura County Fusion ofthe PDL. LaGrassa later returned home after signing withSacramento Republic FC and proved himself as an essentialplayer in their midfield.

Jordan Murrel / 4 / DefenderMurrell, 23, progressed through the Canadian nationalteam’s U-18, U-20 and U-23 programs, and holds significantexperience in the Premier Development Leagueand United Soccer League. While attending SyracuseUniversity, Murrell played for the Ocean City Nor’eastersand K-W United FC of the PDL. Brent Richards / 16 / DefenderRichards, 26, was the first homegrown player to be signedby Major League Soccer club Portland Timbers in 2012.Prior to signing with the club, Richards played for thePortland Timbers U23s in the Premier Development Leaguefrom 2009-11. Richards helped the Timbers U23s win thePDL championship in 2010 with a perfect 16-0 record.

Darwin Espinal / 13 / MidfielderEspinal, 22, is a dynamic, pacey midfielder who most recently played for the South Florida Surf, a club in the Premier Development League (PDL). The Honduran international is not new to the USL scene as he played for the Tampa Bay Rowdies during the 2015-16 season scoring four goals.

Nick von Niederhäusern / 5 / MidfielderVon Niederhäusern, 27, most recently played for Swiss(Raiffeisen) Super League club, FC Vaduz from 2013-16 which earned him a spot in one of the world’s mostpopular video games, FIFA 16. He made a total of 74appearances with Vaduz, including nine Europa Leaguequalifier matches and was part of Vaduz’s LiechtensteinCup Championships in 2014, ‘15 and ‘16. Vaduz posteda plus-44 goal differential (46-2) during Von Niederhäusern’sthree-year stint in the Liechtenstein Cup.

Chris Wehan / 14 / MidfielderWehan, 22, spent the summer of last year training withthe San Jose Earthquakes before he was invited to doa trial with Reno 1868 FC last month. In Wehan’s junioryear, he was named to the First Team All-ConferenceUSA after leading the Lobos with 10 goals scored. In thesame year, Wehan was named MVP and best offensiveplayer of the Grange & Ashwell Memorial Invitational andearned a spot on the Academic All-Conference USA.As a senior, Wehan led the Lobos to victory in the 2016Conference USA Men’s Soccer tournament and wasdeclared the MVP.

Dembokwi Yomba / 19 / ForwardYomba, 20, joined the Atlético Madrid youth program in2014. In the same year, he made his international debutfor Atlético in the EUFA (Union of European Football)Youth League against Olympiacos. Yomba and hisformer Spanish club would later advance to the quarterfinalsof the tournament. Prior to his stints with Atlético,Yomba played for the United States U-17, U-18, andU-20 teams. Yomba was scouted while traveling withthe U-18 Men’s National team to the Copa del Atlanticoin Spain.

TECHNICAL STAFF

Ian RussellHead CoachRussell played for the University of Washington and later started his professional career with the Seattle Sounders of the USL First Division in 1998 and 1999. Russell wasdrafted by the San Jose Earthquakes in 2000 and continued to play seven seasons in MLS. Six of those seasons came with the Earthquakes, where Russell helped the team wintwo MLS Cups in 2001 and 2003. In 2008, Russell returned to the Earthquakes as an assistant coach, a position he held for eight seasons. He helped lead the club to thepostseason twice, while earning the Supporters’ Shield for best regular season record (19-6-9) in 2012. Russell was also instrumental in the Quakes’ international and collegiatescouting efforts, and briefly helped oversee the club’s youth development as the academy’s technical director. He served as the Earthquakes interim head coach for the finaltwo games of the 2014 season and holds a U.S. Soccer Federation “A” coaching license.

Eric BucchereAssistant CoachBucchere, 34, has nine years of coaching experience on hisrésumé. He most recently held the head coach position forthe men’s soccer team at Menlo College, posting an overallrecord of 43-23-9 across four seasons, including a GoldenState Athletic Conference regular season and tournamentchampionship in 2016. Bucchere also led the PremierDevelopment League club Burlingame Dragons to back-tobackdivision titles from 2015-16.
