OUR PARISH MISSION

We are the Christian Community of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, a Catholic parish of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Embracing our many and diverse gifts, we are united in Christ Jesus. Challenged by the teachings of Our Lord, and inspired by the example of our Patron, we strive to serve God, and to minister to others, in prayer, sacrament, faith formation, and charity.

GOD’S SUMMONS Confronted with God’s power and majesty, the first response of the prophet Isaiah was to acknowledge his sinfulness. “Woe is me, I am doomed! For I am a man of unclean lips,” he said aloud. Likewise, with his empty fishing nets dramatically filled at Jesus’ instruction, Peter fell to his knees and cried out, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” Next, Peter got up. He docked his boats then left to follow Jesus. Isaiah also had a dramatic change of heart. When he heard the Lord say, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” Isaiah answered, “Here I am, send me”. We are summoned daily by the Risen Lord. We are reminded of the saving power of the gospel and know in our heart of hearts that, as St. Paul wrote, believing in anything else won’t lead to any-thing. What will it take for you to move past your sinfulness? What will it take for you to get off your knees? What will it take for you to bring to dock what is unimportant and to accept your call to be God’s messenger. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.

Monday, February 11th; 7pm in the Church. On the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, we will celebrate a Healing Mass for our parish community. ...On February 11, 1858 Bernadette, her sister

Toinette and a friend of theirs, Jeanne, went looking for wood in the meadows and came to “the place where the

canal rejoins the River Gave”. They were in front of the Grotto of Massabielle. Toinette and Jeanne crossed the icy

water, crying out with the cold; Bernadette hesitated to do this because of her chronic asthma. She heard “a noise

like a gust of wind,” but “none of the trees were moving.” Raising her head, she saw, in a hollow of the rock a

small young lady, who looked at her and who smiled at her. This was the first Apparition of the Virgin Mary. Fol-

That we may eagerly respond, “Here I am, Lord,” whenever we hear God call upon us to be His hands, feet and voice here on earth. “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?’ ‘Here I am,’ I said, ‘send me!’” (Isaiah 6:8) Every day, in little ways and in big ways, God asks, “Whom shall I send?” Whether it is someone to take on a new ministry, to give a friendly smile to a stranger or say a word of encouragement to a friend, God constantly provides opportunities to help someone in need. The next time you hear God calling, have the courage to walk through the door and say “Here I am, Lord.”

Friendly Reminder: IGNITE donation checks should be made payable to IGNITE. All IGNITE checks are sent to the Archdiocese for processing. Thank you for your generosity.

The 2019 Diocesan Services Fund campaign begins on the weekend of March 2/3. Our St. Maximilian Kolbe goal for 2019 is $138,000. We encourage you to watch the 2019 DSF video (https://www.archgh.org/dsf/parish) and listen to what Daniel Cardinal DiNardo and others have to say about your DSF donations at work to sup-port these important ministries.
