Are you talented with technology? If yes, we invite you to serve during Mass and run the PowerPoint program, following the Order of the Mass. This can be a rewarding ministry, for a person, family or couple, giving you a unique way to serve our parish. We would like to add more talented volunteers for each Mass. Train-ing will be provided! Please let us know if you are interested in serving. You may contact Da-na Henkel in the parish office @ 281-955-7324 or [email protected]. Thank you for considering!

    Taizé Prayer Service

Thursday, December 5th @ 7 pm in the Church Sponsored by the ACTS CORE Team

What is Taizé? Taizé is an evening of prayer, song and meditation.

“Meditating on Scripture means becoming part of a story of love and trust. Throughout Scrip-ture, God invites each of us to place our confi-dence in Him so as to enter into a communion

without end.” ~Seeds of Trust, The Taizé Community

    All are welcome!

HOPEFUL EXPECTATION Our liturgical year begins with the season of Advent—a time of hopeful expectation of the coming of the Lord. On the First Sunday of Advent we look forward to the end of time when we will awaken to the dawn of Christ’s new day. Today we hear Isaiah speak of a day when God’s power will have brought universal peace and God’s Word will have instructed all people, radiating God’s “light” (teachings) into all of human society. Only when humanity walks “in the light of the LORD” (Isaiah 2:5), when all people desire to be instructed “in [God’s] ways” (Isaiah 2:3), will the world be set aright and our deepest longings fulfilled. The reading from Romans calls us to “awake from sleep” for this final “day is at hand” (Romans 13:11, 12). Together this Sunday’s scriptures proclaim our Christian faith that Jesus is the One who will finally come to fulfill God’s plan of salva-tion. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE St. Maximilian’s Advent Penance Service will be on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7pm in the Church. Several area priests will be joining us to hear confessions. This is an opportunity for you and your family to prepare for the Christmas season by celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Ad-vent.

CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE We are once again collecting for the Christmas Giving Tree Pro-gram. There will be special Christmas Giving Trees set up at each of the church entrances beginning this weekend. The special gift tags hung on these trees will suggest the age and gender for whom you can donate a Christmas gift. We ask that you bring the un-wrapped gift(s) with the attached gift tag(s) to St. Maximilian the

weekends of December 7/8 and December 14/15. The Christmas Giving supports Catho-lic Charities, Mission of Yahweh, Casa Juan Diego and our own parishioners who are in need during this Christmas season. Do not miss your chance to bring joy and Christmas blessings to families in our community.

    SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND

Give in thanksgiving. “The nuns left lasting impressions on me,” writes a donor. “I shall always be grateful for my Catholic education.” Please join in thanking the thousands of senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests who worked tirelessly to educate the young and serve those in need. Next week’s second collection is for the Retirement Fund for Religious, which helps hundreds of reli-gious communities care for aging members. Please give generously.

That we do not take each day for granted and see the little miracles that occur in our lives every day. “Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.” Matthew 24:42 People who have had health issues or near-death experiences generally have a greater appreciation for each day being a gift from God. The rest of us usually take for granted that we will be around to-morrow. But when you start to look at each day as a gift, you realize all the little miracles that happen daily and grow in gratitude for all that we have been given. You begin to see God’s active presence in your life.
