The Rev. Terry H. Jones has accepted a call to become minister of" The First Baptist Church of Plymouth. He will assume his duties here on Wednesday, August 15, after moving his family into the parsonage earlier the same

week.

Rev. Jones. 32. is a native of Chowan County and attended public schools there, graduating from John A. Holmes High School in 1960. He graduated from Campbdl College in 1965 with a BA degrP.e and from outheastern Seminary in 1969 with a MD degree.

The Rev: Mr. Jones was or-dained by Macedonia Baptist Church of Chowan County in 1962. His former pastorates include: Mt. Sinai. Chapel Hill--Yeopim (student) 1961-1964; Geneva Baptist, Camden County (student) 1964-1966; Magnolia Baptist, Stedman. N .C. 1966 1970; and he comes here from Meherrin Baptist Church ·of Murfreesboro · where he has served since 1970. He fills the vacancy left last November by Rev. Ellis Lanier who went to College Acres Baptist Chapel, a mission . church sponsored by Winter Park Baptist Church' in Wilmington, N.C.

Mr. Jones and his wife , Carolyn, have two chijdren ages nine and four. ·

Effective Jan. 20 The Rev. Terry Jones, pastor

of Plymouth's First Baptist Church the past three and one-half years, announced his resignation Sunday effective Jan. 20.

An Edenton native, he plans to manage a shoe store there owned by he and his wife until early spring at which time he plans to purchase and manage a local radio station. He said they will move to Edenton the week of Jan. 20.

The minister said his stay in Plymouth has been very

• pleasant and he and his family have made many good friends here.
