Administrative Team’s Message
Happy New Year Rocanville Students and Parents! As we look back to the activities of December, we need to thank all of the students, parents, SCC, and staff for supporting our December performances and celebration activities. From the School Family turkey dinner to spirit week and Fun Day, to the Band Concert and Elflandia Christmas Concert, and to intramurals and basketball, December was a busy month. All of these activities contributed to making December a fun-filled month and helped to teach our students about the true spirit of the season. Winter is half over or so we hope as the days start to get a wee bit longer! Please remember to dress warm as it is very important for all students travelling to and from school as well as for recess. High school students should also be preparing for term end by completing missed assignments and projects and studying for final exams. The SCC will again provide breakfast to help you kick start your exam days. This is also a great time for high school parents to sign up on HomeLogic to be able to access your son/daughter’s attendance and grades for each of their courses. This is a great way to stay up to date on their progress and see specific assignments or tasks that contribute to their assessment that may not show up on their report card. You can create an account by going to the school division website and clicking on the parent tab. Or, you can use this link: http://gradebook.cornerstonesd.ca/HomeLogic/. If you have any questions about creating an account or technical difficulties, please contact the school. If you’re looking for some new books for your children to read or perhaps for yourself, check out our FREE elibrary. There are options for all reading levels. Students can access the library at http://cornerstonesd.lib.overdrive.com and log into the library using their regular school Cornerstone username and password. Moving into 2019, think about how you can make Rocanville School a great place to be and learn. Happy New Year and best wishes for the year to come. Lost & Found If you think your child is missing items of clothing, our Lost & Found at the school is a good place to start
looking.
Please call the school or check with the caretakers.
Snack Shack Hot lunches will be announced on the school Facebook Page and over announcements at school a day or two prior. Thank you to the students who work in the Snack Shack at lunch. Without you we wouldn’t be able to provide this service to our school!
Milk Coupons
Our School Milk Program encourages students to purchase milk at school as part of their daily dairy servings. We hope parents take advantage of the milk coupon card available for $12.50 (for 10 coupons) in the school office.

Our staff and students do great things in our school every day but they are also doing amazing things out in the community. We have a Bulletin board called 'Word on the Street' where we recognize community involvement by our school members through newspaper clippings and photos. January Library news
Our school is planning to celebrate Family Literacy Day on January 28th. January 27th is the actual date for Family Literacy Day but as it lands on a weekend we will have to celebrate later. Activities for Kindergarten to Grade 9 have not been finalized but the initial plans are promising to be fun! I would like to invite everyone to wear their favorite, school appropriate, pajamas that day and be ready to partake in some exciting activities. The theme for Family Literacy Day is Inspiring Families to Learn Together so I encourage all families to take 15 minutes to play a game, read a story, sing a song, tell some knock, knock jokes or bake a cake; anything that incorporates reading. We value literacy in our school family and want to share that with you. Good luck to all students who have to write exams in January. As much as most of you don’t like them, they bring you to new beginnings. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Mrs. Schiller Library Technician

Rocanville Recreation February Break Camp Rocanville Recreation is excited to announce that we will be offering
FEBRUARY BREAK CAMP February 19-21, 2019!
We want to do lots of fun winter themed crafts and cool outdoor activities.
We will be running the program:
Drop off (at the hall) from: 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM Pick up (at the hall) from: 5:00 PM - 5:30 PM
A bagged lunch is required.
If enough interest, we would like to run two different age groups
Ages 5 and up Cost $20 per day or $55 for the week.
Ages 14 and under
Depending on the activity on cost per day. With both groups being specific activities for that age group.
Cheques can be made payable to the Town of Rocanville.
