Venezuelan-born Samy Gicherman is an internationally acclaimed fashion designer. His career spans three decades of dressing Latin America’s most prominent leaders, celebrities, entertainers and beauty pageant winners. He is the recipient of countless awards for his dramatic and passionate creative talent in theatrical costume, millinery and fashion design. The futureholds many aspirations and goals for Gicherman. SAMY GICHERMAN WAS BORN TO A FAMOUS ARGENTINE MILLINERY DESIGNER AND A POLISH GEMOLOGIST THAT IMMIGRATED TO VENEZUELA, AND IT DID NOT TAKE HIM A LONG TIME BEFORE HE BEGAN TO SHOWCASE HIS INHERITED CREATIVE GENE. UNDER THE TUTELAGE OF HIS MOTHER, PURVEYOR OF HATS TO THE INFAMOUS EVA PERON, SAMY EMBARKED ON AN APPRENTICESHIP THAT MARRIED BOTH GEMOLOGICAL AND MILLINERY TALENTS.

Driven by a deep-rooted passion for design,

Samy decides to pursue a degree in Interior

Design in which he graduated early and with

honors from the Instituto de Villasmil in

Caracas, Venezuela but, shortly thereafter

discovered that his passion and talent truly

lie in the fashion world.

In April of 1997, Samy launched a specialty

boutique in “Paseo Las Mercedes” in Caracas where

Samy perfected his unique design in gold and silver

tiaras, jeweled crowns, hats, and hair accessories.

A tasteful combination of Swarovski crystals, semi-

precious stones, and cultured pearls showcase

works of art that were promptly embraced by the

most popular stylists and beauty pageantry

producers. As a result, Samy’s reputation for his

meticulous design and couture fashions, earned

him an opportunity to sit as a judge twice for

the most lauded beauty pageant in South America,

“Miss Venezuela”.

2013 GREEN FASHION, MIAMI

Runway

Shortly after this successful accessory line launch,

Samy opened his first Haute Couture Design

Atelier, “Krizia Collection 1998.” The collections

debuted in well attended fashion shows hosted at

the Hotel Caracas Hilton, as well as many black-tie

galas, fundraiser luncheons, and his Atelier. Gicherman

led a trend in luxury fashion show productions

alongside other notable fashion designers like Piera

Ferrari, Angel Sanchez, Oscar Carvallo, Mario Gomez,

Luis Bracall, and Alvaro Crespo, among others.

Samy gained multiple awards for theatrical fashion

design such as winning first place for period apparel

at the “Festival de Teatro Interclub” in 2000. The

City of Miami hosted “Havana en el Fondo del Mar”

for which Samy designed all costuming. His custom

hats and hair accessories have been featured

in various theatre and sophisticated television

productions in South America.

In 2002, Samy was invited to represent Venezuela

in the international Bridal event, Novia España in

which he submitted a couture hair accessory that

was later used by Gloria Estefan en her popular

video-clip, “Mi Tierra.” While in Spain, the Samy

Gicherman brand recognition expanded rapidly

launching exclusively at Boutique “Rosa Clara”

located on the pristine Calle Serrano in Madrid.

2004 marked a series of pivotal events for Samy.

He began the year as a hand selected panel expert

on “Album de Boda” where he covered and

commented on the fashions and style of the

Royal Wedding of the Prince of Asturias, Felipe

de Borbón y Doña Leticia Ortiz. Later on that year,

Gicherman was commissioned to showcase his

2004 collections as well as a Hellenic inspired Bridal

Collection honoring the 2004 Athens Olympics

on Televevisa. One of his most notable accomplishments

of 2004 included designing the gown for Miss

Monica Spear, winner of the Miss Venezuela 2004

title, as well as the gown for the first finalist of

“Chica Venezuela USA 2004.

ONE OF HIS MOST NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF 2004 INCLUDED DESIGNING THE GOWN FOR MISS MONICA SPEAR, WINNER OF THE MISS VENEZUELA 2004 TITLE, AS WELL AS THE GOWN FOR THE FIRST FINALIST OF “CHICA VENEZUELA USA 2004.”

During this last decade, Samy Gicherman has

been an anchor designer in his current city of

residence, Miami, showing consistently in both

Miami International Fashion Week and Green

Fashion Week. In addition, Samy has participated

in international fashion shows in Bolivia, Ecuador,

and Colombia. Runway participation includes:

Punta del Este Fashion Week, Gala De La Belleza

in Bolivia, Ecuador Fashion Week, Chicago

Fashion Week, and Expo-Colombia (featured

as the only non-Colombian fashion designer).

COLLECTIONS HIGHLIGHT

His international expansion culminated in 2003 when he opened

a third Bridal Atelier on the posh address of 359 Miracle Mile in

Coral Gables. Shortly after launching in Miami, Samy claimed his

position as a top trendsetting fashion designer with ready-to-wear

and couture collections coveted by some of the most influential women

in Florida. Samy’s clientele includes a reputable list of renown Hispanic

media personalities and celebrities such as Charytin Goico, Lucía

Méndez, Diana Quijano, Gina Vélez, Jackie Guerrido, Sully Díaz,

Mirka De Llanos, Maggie Carles, Jessica Fox, Marisela Toro, Miriam

Valero, Barbie Simons, Geraldine Bazán, Paola Varela, Rachel Díaz,

Susana Gallego, Elizabeth Pérez, Patricia Arbulú, Milka Duno,

Gabriela Spanic, Carines Moncada, Laura Termini, Karime Lozano,

and Bárbara Bermudo.

Samy boasts countless press appearances as media darling in for Hispanic Affluent Luxury lifestyle community. He is a commentator for Univision, Nuestra Belleza Latina, Academy Award Red Carpet Style in Spanish on Telemundo, and other style events.

In 2012, Samy established a workshop called “ModaLab” for fashion design graduates to learn the fine art of embellishments, embroidery and couture work. This last decade has included many successful ventures including the explosive growth of couture clients, a strong bridal gown and accessory business. The future holds many aspirations and goals for Gicherman including a cross-over to the American market and the expansion into specialty stores in California and Texas. Currently, Samy has been selected to compete among eight other top Floridian fashion designers for the Eastern Airlines Uniform Design Contest. The future holds many aspirations for Gicherman including the national expansion of Samy Gicherman Couture-USA to the American market.

BRIDAL COUTURETimeless, classic and romantic describe the

“Novias Couture” bridal gowns by Samy

Gicherman. His signature touches include

intertwining fine European laces with organzas,

duchess satins and sensuous silks accented

by delicate, floral embellishments and

is complimented by classic embroidery and

jeweled touches on fabrics and accents that

are synonymous with luxury.

The “Novias Couture” bridal accessory collection

includes high-end bridal veils, headpieces,

tiaras and sashes. Each piece is delicately hand

crafted by Samy personally in his studio using

delicate laces, semi-precious stones and soft

metals. The magic of Samy’s couture finishes

creates an heirloom quality to each accessory

that can be cherished for generations.

Samy draws on his background in theatrical

costume designs to personalize the vision

of each Bride prioritizing her dreams and

illusions for the Wedding Day. He has dressed

countless celebrities such as Charityn Goico,

Carolina Tejera, and Laura Ferretti, among some

of Latin America’s most beautiful brides.

In 2014, the “Novias Couture” collection

will debut across a select group of fine bridal

specialty stores across the nation.
