social media. It will introduce you to the current social media landscape and

explain the benefits of implementing social media

into your marketing strategy.

A brief history of social media.

In August of 1999 Blogger begins blogging service.

Blogger was purchased by Google in 2003

In March of 2006 Twitter came on the scene.

In 2006 Facebook is open to all users. Facebook started out as a way for college

students to communicate. In 2003 My Space launches acquiring 75

million visitors by 2008.

History of Social Media Continued:

In 2003 LinkedIn comes on the scene for corporate social networking.

On December 2, 2008 Facebook membership hits 375 million. Climbs to 400 million in February 2010 and then half a billion users five months later.

Social media benefits are not immediate. It takes time but it is well worth it in the long run.

Takes much time and effort. You have to be willing to put the effort in to it.

Negative comments. This can also be a blessing in disguise. It gives you a chance to show the customer that you care.
