Holy Hour at the

August 7, 2016; 4:00pm Evening Prayer (Vespers), The Rosary,

Homily and Benediction.

Traveling Vocation Chalice In Fr. Brian’s homily on July 10, 2016, he spoke abut the Gospel according to St. Luke which summarized the Ten Commandments with “You shall love the Lord, you God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and will all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Fr. Brian said that Our Lord Jesus, in His answer to the scholar of the Law is telling us to not only follow the commandments, but also kicked it up a notch when he talked about the Good Samaritan. Practice living the gospel, practice spiritual exercise, practice and pray. This is when it becomes natural. Fr. Brian said that in order to get good at something, we need to practice, practice, practice. When I was reading my July issue of Magnificat there was a story about a saint named Saint Jozef Bilczewski. He was named Archbishop of Lviv (now in Ukraine) in 1900. He had 325 churches and chapels built. “He asked each family to pray one Our Father and one Hail Mary each day for vocations. In his time, the number of priests increased from 79 to 140”. * He died in 1923. Now with the shortage of priests, and the need to “kick it up a notch”, I challenge each family to do as Saint Jozef Bilczewski asked families, and say one Our Father and one Hail Mary each day for vocations. You might even consider hosting the Traveling Vocation Chalice in your home for a week. The signup sheet is in the Narthex by the elevator or you can call Linda Brown at 419-215-1478. *passage taken from page 123, July issue of

Magnificat.

The Monthly Prayer Request for Priests

Would You Pray for a Priest each Day?

The Archdiocese of Detroit has an alphabetical listing of all the priests in the Archdiocese. Each day of the month has specific priests to pray for. Copies of this listing, as well as suggested prayers for priests, may be found on the table in the Narthex, as well as with the sign-in book at the Adoration Chapel. Please take a copy and keep all our priests in your prayers. Before each Holy Mass, parishioners pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Rosary. We will be including the names of the priests for the day, to be included with our intentions.

Holy Door Pilgrimage Update On Saturday, July 23, a total of 47 pilgrims (22 parishioners from St. Anthony, 13 from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 4 from St. Joseph,

Erie, 3 from St. Gabriel, 1 each from St. Roch, Flat Rock, Christ the King, Corpus Christi, St. Rita, Clark Lake and St. Rose, Perrysburg) made the pilgrimage to 3 Holy Doors: Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo; Our Lady of Consolation Shrine in Carey, Ohio; and The Sorrowful Mother Shrine, in Bellevue, Ohio. It was such a great experience and we were so blessed for the opportunity. Our tour began promptly at 8:00am with a blessing from Fr. Brian before we left the St. Anthony parking lot. During the bus ride between stops, we prayed the Rosary, sang the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and included our parishes, Pastors and other special intentions. At each stop, we were greeted with the hospitality and character unique to each locality. We were given a very interesting and detailed tour and history at Rosary Cathedral. We attended Holy Mass at Our Lady of Consolation, where, after lunch, were given a tour and history of the shrine. We were also able to attend Sunday Vigil Mass at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine, which followed a short history of the shrine and the chance to explore the grottos in the midst of the beauty of God’s gift of nature. Lunch and dinner were a special treat, with delicious food prepared by the shrines’ cafeterias. Many, many thanks to Fr. Brian & St. Anthony Church, who with the St. Anthony K of C Council covered the expense of the tour bus. Special thanks as well to all who helped with the Saturday morning hospitality and sign-in, especially Robert & Michelle Burke; Sharon Dusseau for bringing bottles of water in coolers with ice for the bus ride; Michelle Lindsey, for the itinerary booklet and Holy card; and most especially to Grace Hajdu, who has been painstakingly organizing this pilgrimage for many months. We also thank the members of the various parishes who joined our Pilgrimage, and the generosity of the free-will donations. May God Bless all of us!

Give thanks to the Lord for He is Good.

His Love endures forever.

It is neat when the 50/50 monthly winner is in the Narthex when the winning ticket is drawn. Just ask Tom Szuba. He was the July 50/50 winner. His winning ticket was worth $378.00 plus he collected the $50.00 seller incentive

What can I say about The 50/50 annual sales this year, other than outstanding! We are now up to 355. The cost for one annual is now $5.00. One annual will guarantee you one chance in each monthly drawing each month for the remainder of the year. To purchase Annuals, you can stop at the church office during the week or you can drop-by the 50/50 table on the 4th Sunday of each month. You can buy an annual for anyone you wish. They are a great gift for that hard-to-buy-for person. If you have purchased an annual, but don't what you're lucky yearly number is and would like to know, just stop by the 50/50 table and I will be more than happy to take the

time to look up your number. Brian Bischoff

Catholic Services Appeal

2016

Dear Friends in Christ,

Each year, all parishes in the Archdiocese of Detroit embark upon the CSA (Catholic Services Appeal) Drive. The CSA is

a required collection taken up for the general operational expenses of the Archdiocese of Detroit. It helps to subsidize

Catholic institutions that may not necessarily be connected to or funded by a particular parish. Among these special

services are Campus Ministry, Telecommunications, Hospital and Prison Chaplaincies, Central Service Offices, which

provide direct assistance to individual parishes, the Marriage Tribunal, and the like. Since the CSA provides for 62% of the

operating budget of the Archdiocese, we are assessed or taxed a specific amount we are asked to meet. Our assessment is

based upon many factors, including parish registration, Sunday collections, and financial status of the area within our parish

boundaries.

Our target for 2016 has been set for $40,040. For your convenience, pledge forms can be found at the bottom of this

page. Please complete the form and designate the amount of your pledge and the payment plan you prefer and return to the

Parish Office. Pledges may also be made by calling the Parish Office 734-854-1143; sending your pledge via email

([email protected]) or by stopping by the Parish Office during regular business hours.

Your pledge can be made in several ways: paid in full and returned with your pledge form; a down payment returned with

your pledge form, with the balance divided into quarterly payments, or divided evenly among 9 monthly payments. Credit

card and automatic withdrawal payments will also be accepted. If you wish to contribute this way, please indicate on the

line below and a form will be sent to you.

Please remember that we are required to make an accounting of all CSA cards for our Parish, so even if you are unable to

pledge, we ask that you indicate that to the Parish Office as well.

I am grateful for your continued stewardship and prayers.

May God Be Blessed!
