LIGHT OF THE WORLDEpiphany can be understood as an exten-

sion of the Nativity of the Lord that we celebrateon December 25. While at Christmas we celebrateJesus' coming as the long-awaited king and Mes-siah of the Jewish people, on Epiphany we cele-brate the revelation that Jesus is the Savior andLight of all nations-Jews, Gentiles, and all peo-ple.

The star shines so brightly that it attractsmagi who come from far distant countries to wor-ship Jesus. They are not Jews, yet they are drawnto the Light of the World. The letter to the Ephe-sians reveals that the Light of the World was forthe Gentiles as well as the Jews-Christ gathers allpeople into the light of his love. The reading fromIsaiah also describes a gathering of diverse peo-ples, but this time it is to the light that emanatesfrom the people of God. copyright, J. S. Paluch co.

FEAST OF FAITHThe Liturgy of Emmanuel

The assembly has gathered from near andfar, on foot, by bus, by car, by subway, singly andby twos and threes: single people, couples, fami-lies. Now that movement is ritualized and madevisible in the liturgy's entrance procession.

We are not alone on this journey; Christ iswith us. The procession is led by the cross, with theimage of Christ upon it. Candles, signs of a livingpresence, are carried around the cross. Candles alsoaccompany the Book of the Gospels, another signof Emmanuel, God-with-us. The priest presider islikewise a sign of Christ's presence in our assem-bly; he will act in persona Christi, in the person ofChrist, who presides at every Eucharist.

As the procession begins, we stand and singtogether in our first act as a community. The join-ing of our voices begins to turn many into one. Thesongs we sing range from ancient chants to con-temporary hymns, but they have the same pu{pose,to foster our unity and turn our thoughts to themysteries we gather to celebrate. Con el inicio del Nuevo Afio. 201 1! Se nos abreun mundo de oportunidades, desafios y retos. Reflex-ionemos sobre las experiencias que vivimos en el 2010,disfrutemos el Presente el momento que estamos viviendoy empezemos a construir el Futuro.

Al reflexionar y mirar hacia atras nos damoscuenta que nos encontramos precisamente donde nuestrasacciones pasadas nos han traido. Dia a dia durante el 2010fuimos construyendo con nuestros pensamientos, palabrasy obras el lugar y la situacion donde nos encontramoshoy. Veamos a luz de la Fe si esta situacion es la quedeseamos seguir viviendo en este 2017, y si NO entonceses tiempo de cambiar!

Miles de personas que toman conciencia de laimportancia de sus actos, de sus progresos o limitacionesse trazan metas y objetivos a lograr en el Aflo Nuevo.

Esta tradicion es muy sencilla, esas personas setrazan metas que hasta el momento no ha podido alcanzar,o que no se habian planteado y se hacen el firme pro-posito de lograrlas durante el Aflo Nuevo! Pensemos porun momento que es lo que nos hace falta cambiar en nues-tra vida, para ser mejores CATOLICOS COMPRO-METIDOS. Es bueno compartir esos propositos connuestra familia, o, amigos porque asi podremos recibir yobtener el apoyo necesario de quien este dispuesto a brin-darlo, muchas veces encontramos miembros de la familiaque tienen los mismos propositos que nosotros y quebueno! porque asi podemos unir esfuerzos y lograr de unamanera mas facil nuestros propositos.

Ahora bien, recordemos que estos !p@!TOS no son exclusivamnte individuales, pueden ser tam-bien Familiares, o que tal de Ministerios! Por ejemplo quebonito seria que el Ministerio de Lectores se propusierabuscar mas Lectores de todas las edades y para todas lasMisas! O que todos, TODOS los Catequistas motivaranmas a sus estudiantes para que asistan a Misa! O que lasGuadalupanas organizaran mas Rosarios donde toda lacomunidad participle y sienta la presencia de Dios y laayuda de la Virgen Maria ! O si ud. solamente asiste aMisa el Domingo y se quiere comprometer en algun Min-isterio, HAGALO! O que todos los Ministerios nos sin-tieramos realmente parte de la Familia Parroquial de SanAntonio de Padua y trabajaramos unidos hombro conhombro! Para de esta manera construir una comunidadmejor, un Cicero mejor, un mundo mejor, y asi extenderel Reino de Dios y hacerlo tangible para las personas queno lo han experimentado!

Ojala que este 2011 crezcamos y seamos masconcientes (con la ayuda del Niflito Jesus que se manifi-esta hoy a todas las Naciones) que somos dueflos denuestro destino y de nuestra voluntad.
