A NEW YEAR WITH NEW POSSIBILITIES

Dear family and friends of St Kiarans

Heres a New Years resolution I found in a Wikipedia article1on NewYears resolutions:

Resolve to renew all your old resolves, and add a few that arenew. Resolve to keep them as long as you can,what more can a poorman do.

In 1J2= my moter decided teir fi+e cildren adto %o to &etter scools and we were packed up and mo+edto 0ape Town$ settlin% in onde&osc' Tere I started myeducation in 6akurst .unior$ not understandin% norspeakin% a word of >n%lis' Soon I transferred to .an +anie&eeck Scool in 0ape Town$ ten on to te first #frikaansscool$ /root Scuur$ wic was started in onde&osc' In fact it was started in te all of teN'/' Kerk' In 1J2J I was sent to &oardin% scool at Gloemof /irls? Scool in Stellen&osc' Gynow my >n%lis ad muc impro+ed and I was a&le to matriculate wit a uni+ersity pass$ wit&ot >n%lis and #frikaans Taal&ond' I entered 0T to study Social G'#' &ut can%ed my courseto Tri%onometrical Sur+ey' I started my workin% life wit Tri%' Sur+ey in ;ow&ray durin% teWW3 years$ ten transferred to )retoria Tri%' Sur+ey$ e+entually mo+in% on to i+in%stone$

on and I were in+ited to -oin te ;anse support %roup to e!perience occasionalweekend retreats away' Da+id and inda were new and we en-oyed our time to%eter &y walkin%$swimmin% and a+in% communion$ and prayer meetin%s wit te oters in te %roup'

6ur &oys did teir army trainin% and on and I mo+ed to Kalk Gay' We li+ed tere fora&out ten years were on ad a stroke and died on te = t6cto&er 3

%arden' Te &attle was on" Gy dusk te fire seemed under control$ and wen Iwent up to ser+e te fire fi%ters some coffee tey assured me tat i could sleeppeacefully'

Tat was not to &e: at 3'2< I was woken up &y an ur%ent call on teNei%&ourood Watc 3,way radio and a lurid oran%e %low filled te &edroom'Tere was a u%e &laFe ri%t &eind our ouse$ and em&ers and &its of &urnin%+e%etation flew o+er te ouse and %arden in te stron% wind' No fire fi%ters werepresent$ and we ad some difficulty reacin% tem' Teir arri+al was a welcomesi%t indeed"
