Dear parishioners You may know that the three principles of the Christian stewardship are time, talent and treasure. The truth is that stewardship involves all of life – body, mind and spirit, our material possessions, friendships, etc. All we are and have is a gift from our Creator for us to use wisely to build up God’s kingdom here on earth. In this regard, the parable of the gospel for this Sunday is about the master who entrusted his possessions to his servants, each one with different talents. We know the outcome: the industrious servants are rewarded, the lazy servant is punished. Such confidence the master had in his servants as he commended his possessions to them. But not all servants proved to be trustworthy. One of them, controlled by fear did nothing to increase what had been given him. Fear can surely paralyze us and cause us to lose everything. As disciples who are entrusted with different talents, we are called to unveil those qualities given by Christ and make them grow as persons and as Christians. All of us have been blessed with various talents, whether we are aware of it or not, or whether we have developed our talents or not. Of course, it is usually not possible to develop all of our talents. But, ideally, we can and should develop some of them and use them wisely to bless the communities we belong to. As the gospel of this weekend invites us to report an account of the talents received, allow me to present to you an update of the To Teach Who Christ Is (TTWCI) campaign. Out of $461,880 of total pledges, parishioners have paid $93,557 thus far. As part of the goal campaign, 40% of it is designated to the Archdiocese and 60% to the parish which represents $56,134. With these funds, before my coming to the parish, $19,500 was invested in the remodeling of the St. Joseph’s room and a parish center’s bathroom. During July and August of this year, we used $5,124 for the remodeling of the Music room. In October, the parish finance council approved estimates we received, to allocate $12,950 from the TTWCI Campaign for the pavement of the church’s alley which has been completed and $28,118 for the lighting of the parking lot which will begin at the end of November. The plan is to install 4 LED poles and replace the existing lamps on the wall outside with LED the building facing the parking lot. We hope to use $7000 from the Campaign to defray some of the cost of remodeling of the new parish offices. As I mentioned in my previous letter, relocating the parish offices, will facilitate parishioners and volunteers to easy access to the facilities especially in winter; it will also allow all to have a better handicap access and a staff member will always be available to the parishioners during the office hours. I remind you that the new parish office mailing address
estemos conscientes o no, o si hemos desarrollado nuestros talentos o no. Por

and entrance will be 1880 Ash Street. Coming projects from the TTWCI Campaign will be the pavement of the parking lot, remodeling the school bathrooms & maintenance of the roof’s building. I thank you for those who are fulfilling the Campaign pledges and ask you to continue making your payments to defray the improvements to our buildings mentioned above. For those who have not contributed yet to the campaign, this will be an opportunity to support these and next parish projects. Remember your contribution makes us better stewards by taking care of our facilities which benefit future parishioners and us. To support the parking lot lighting, you can drop an envelope in the collection basket on Sundays marking your name and specifying that your donation will be for this project. Regarding the religious sisters to minister at the parish, I contacted the headquarters of the Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd located in Rome and presented to them the opportunity to assist the parish especially in the area of evangelization and the coordination of the Religious Education programs. They have accepted the idea and are considering bringing two religious sisters from both the Philippines and Mexico who will live in the Parish Center’s house. I do want this process to be guided by the Holy Spirit and the intercession of St. Stephen Protomartyr, therefore we need the approval from Archbishop Blase Cupich to consider this proposal and be able to initiate this process. I have written a letter to him, and I ask you, please keep his response and intentions in your prayers for this to happen.
In Jesus and Mary,
