2013Natural ResourcesBy international standards, the Caribbean region as a whole is not rich in natural mineral resources. There are important exceptions however: Trinidad has significant oil and gas reserves while Jamaica has sizable deposits of bauxite ore. To a lesser extent, iron, nickel, asphalt and ammonia are also produced within the region.
