Transfers and unaccompanied minorsYour son or daughter will be met by one of our Young Learner team members at the airport who will be wearing brightly coloured orange International House London Young Learner Centres t-shirts and will be holding a large International House London sign.

Once our staff have greeted your son or daughter and confirmed their name and ID, they will accompany them to a waiting area to relax whilst awaiting the arrival of other students. Students will always be supervised by a member of International House London Young Learner Centres’ staff.

Transfers may involve waiting time of over an hour after students have cleared immigration and been met by our staff.

If you have booked a ‘private transfer’ your child will be taken directly from arrivals to the Young Learners Centre.

Some airlines insist on students under 16 years of age being booked as unaccompanied minors. It is important that this service is booked for both arrival and departure transfers; otherwise there could be a delay in the student checking in on their return which could result in a missed flight.

If there is a problem regarding unaccompanied minors you should contact the International House London Young Learners Team via email on [email protected] or call the emergency telephone number for the centre your child is attending.

Transfer time

OxfordTransfer time from London Heathrow Airport to Oxford will take approximately one and a half hours.

Ellesmere Transfer time from London Heathrow Airport to Ellesmere will take approximately three and a half hours. Transfer time from Liverpool John Lennon Airport or Manchester Airport to Ellesmere will take approximately two hours.

MoultonTransfer time from London Heathrow Airport to Moulton will take approximately 2 hours.

Edinburgh Newbattle Transfer time from Edinburgh airport to Newbattle will take approximately 45 mins.

Students can decline to leave their pocket money with us, but they must sign a Pocket Money Form during registration, stating that they have chosen to be responsible for their own pocket money. In this case International House Young Learner Centres will not be responsible for any losses.

Pocket money outside of the stated time is at the discretion of the Centre Manager. Students must show their ID cards when collecting pocket money.

If your child runs out of pocket money you can contact IH London and we can arrange for you to pay more to them. This is at a charge of £50 per transaction and can take up to 5 working days”
