By combining the strengths of Atkins and GEL, the joint venture team offers a full range of services using electronic surveying and geophysical equipment. The joint venture is one of only a few firms nationwide using three-dimensional computer- assisted radar tomography (CART) technology. As the nation’s existing infrastructure continues to become more congested as a result of expansion and modernization, the use of SUE becomes more important. This engineering process—which combines civil engineering, surveying, and geophysics—has been used primarily by departments of transportation, local highway agencies, utility companies, highway design consultants, and aviation clients. Our services incorporate advancements made in geographic information systems (GIS) and global positioning systems (GPS). We use Leica MobileMatriX, which is a GIS technology-based software solution, for interactive processing, visualization, and maintenance of survey data. This tool makes it possible to extend survey data management into the field, thus allowing real- time quality control. Surveying & geomatics Subsurface utility engineeringAtkins and GEL Geophysics, LLC, have formed a joint venture (Atkins-GEL Geophysics, LLC) to provide geophysical and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) services. By combining the strengths of Atkins and GEL, the joint venture team offers a full range of services using electronic surveying and geophysical equipment. The joint venture is one of only a few firms nationwide using three-dimensional computer-assisted radar tomography (CART) technology.

As the nation’s existing infrastructure continues to become more congested as a result of expansion and modernization, the use of SUE becomes more important. This engineering process—which combines civil engineering,

surveying, and geophysics—has been used primarily by departments of transportation, local highway agencies, utility companies, highway design consultants, and aviation clients.

Our services incorporate advancements made in geographic information systems (GIS) and global positioning systems (GPS). We use Leica MobileMatriX, which is a GIS technology-based software solution, for interactive processing, visualization, and maintenance of survey data. This tool makes it possible to extend survey data management into the field, thus allowing real-time quality control.
