The Prime Minister,

Narendra Modi has

expressed hope that India

will get its due place in the

world by surpassing all

challenges it is facing

today. He said, the success

initiatives lies in public

traveller in the presence of

The South Andaman

District Police has solved

a murder case of a lady

within 24 hours and

arrested two accused, her

husband Shadaab Shiraj

and his friend Mohd. Jaffer

and recovered the stolen

articles taken by them. A

well planned murder was

committed at Chatham sea

shore road, leaving no

visible clues on the crime

scene. However, the blind

murder case was solved by

a joint team of PS

Pahargaon, Aberdeen &

Chatham in a highly

professional manner on

Oct.16, 2018.

Upon receiving the

PCR call, the police team

found that the deceased

lady Khairoon Bibi was

lying in a pool of blood in

bedroom of her house. The

almirahs of the room were

open and the belongings

were found scattered.

There was an attempt to

portray the crime as murder

with robbery to mislead the

police investigation. The

only clue police had was

statements of few

neighbours, who hinted

out the role of a suspicious

grey coloured Activa with

its number plate covered

with a paper with unusual

number which was seen

roaming near the house in

the afternoon.

The police teams were

formed & swung into

action immediately. After a

thorough search, the

Scooty was located from

nearby area and upon

investigation it has come

to light that Mohd. Jaffer

was seen driving the

Activa. After a massive

hunt, police team

apprehended the suspect

Mohanpura bus stand.

mark in one-day internationals

during the second ODI against

Kohli went past the milestone

when he reached 81 in his

innings and thus became the

fastest to 10,000 ODI runs in

terms of innings. Kohli has

taken 205 innings to reach the

feat as compared to

Tendulkar ’s 259. Former

relegated to the third spot, he

took 263 innings to bring up

the milestone.

Kohli became only the 4th

Navlendra Kumar Singh informed that the Department

is committed to provide all kinds of facilities for the

commuters especially in the ATR route. With the second

counter set up in STS office Ferrargunj, the commuters

can book their advance journey tickets there itself

without coming to Port Blair for the buses originating

from Port Blair. This facility will be extended to all the

STS offices functioning in different Islands by the first

week of November, the Director added. For enabling this

facility, all the STS offices in the North & Middle and

South Andaman Districts have been connected through

leased line provided by BSNL.

Welcoming the chief guest and others present on the

occasion, the Deputy Director (Transport), Shri Binoy

informed that the software for the new ticketing system

has been developed by NIC Port Blair and hosted in the

State Data Centre of A&N Administration.

made mandatory. Strengthening of Gram Sabhas and mobilization of people of rural

habitations through active capacity building programmes and motivational IEC camps

for general awareness, besides carrying other activities of the Panchayats in a more

transparent and lucid manner and proper information dissemination in the Gram Sabhas

is also envisaged under this Scheme. The Directorate of Rural Development, A&N

Administrations has effectively executed this scheme by distributing Laptop to the

entire three-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions in A&N Islands, Sources added.

When contacted, the Pradhan Govindnagar Gram Panchayat, Campbell- Bay, Ms

Rosalia Kullu, a beneficiary of the Laptop for her Panchayat, said that it is welcome

step that the Ministry has provided Laptop to our Gram Panchayat through RD

Department to strengthen the Panchayats further in IT sector. With the distribution

of Laptops more responsibilities have been given to the Panchayats and now we

have to undertake works related to 11 e-Panchayat core applications of Ministry of

Panchayati Raj, She added.

The Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Campbell- Bay, Shri Raja appreciated the efforts of the

Ministry to provide the Laptops and its timely distribution to all the Panchayats by

the RD Department, A&N Administration. "With laptops in hand we can store data

regarding our panchayat and its activities and can share with anybody while moving

around", he added.

interrogation, Shadaab Shiraj said due to long pending dispute between the husband

and the wife, both the accused hatched the conspiracy to kill Smti. Khairoon Bibi. To

execute the plan, Shadaab Shiraj borrowed a Scooty Activa from one of his friend and

handed over to Jaffer. He also arranged couple of liquor bottles and kept in his house

for Jaffer. On the day, Shadaab Shiraj helped Jaffer to gain entry in to the house and

later the husband left the house leaving Jaffer behind hiding in the house. When the

lady entered the house, Jaffer attacked her with knife. The lady tried to resist and

save herself but was over powered by Jaffer. After killing her Jaffer took out few keys

kept in a lady's bag and opened the almirah in the house to give a robbery angle to the

incident. Thereafter, he fled from the house. He disposed off the knife used in offence,

blood stained cloths & belonging of the lady near Dignabad Sea Shore. On the basis

of disclosure of Jaffer these items were also recovered by police team.

The main culprit Jaffer was supposed to run away to Kerala in lieu of air tickets

and few thousand rupees while the husband Shadaab Shiraj was supposed to get the

property, which is in the name of Smti. Khairoon Bibi. The murder could be solved in

time due to a vigilant neighbour, which provided vital clues to the police to proceed

in the right direction and connect various disjointed events.

The teams lead by the SHO Pahargaon, Chatham and Aberdeen carried out the

work professionally and the investigation took place under the supervision of SDPO

South Andaman Shri Nishant Gupta and the overall supervision of the Senior

Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District, Shri Vijay Singh. The police team

that cracked the case and the public who gave vital clues in the case will be suitably

rewarded.

Meanwhile, public have been requested to share information with the Police in

full confidence so that such anti-social elements are brought to justice and they may

According to the above, period for filing claims & objections are now underway. Therefore, if, with reference to the above said qualifying date, there be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the roll or any objection to the inclusion of name or any objection to particulars in any entry, it should be lodged on or before the 31.10.2018 (Wednesday) in Form 6, 6A, 7, 8 or 8A as may be appropriate. Every such claim or objection should either be presented with concerned Designated Officers/Booth Level Officers at all designated polling stations or sent by post to the Electoral Registration Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency or concerned Asst.ERO or through online by log on to ECI’s website http://www.nvsp.inso as to reach not later than the aforesaid date. All the BLOs/BLO Supervisors appointed for the above purpose are hereby directed to be present at their respective polling stations on all working days including Saturday from 01.09.2018(Saturday) to 31.10.2018(Wednesday) to receive the claims and objections from the general public and guide to them, without fail. Any laxity on their part in performing the duties of BLO/BLO Supervisor will be viewed seriously and appropriate action would be initiated against them as per rule.
