“If you go down to the woods today

You’re sure of a big surprise.

If you go down to the woods today

You’d better go in disguise.

For ev’ry bear that ever there was

Will gather there for certain, because

Today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic.

Ev’ry teddy bear who’s been good

Is sure of a treat today.

There’s lots of marvelous things to eat

And wonderful games to play.

Beneath the trees where nobody sees

They’ll hide and seek as long as they please

Cause that’s the way the teddy bears have their picnic.

“Lyrics by Jimmy Kennedy

A profesional photograper would be excellent, however If you cannot afford a professional, just find a friend with a camera! Give them a list of the photos you want. Its one less thing you have to worry about during the day!

Teddy bread Ingredients

5 Bread (crusts removed)

5 Choc hazelnut spread

5 Choc sprinkles (from baking section of your supermarket)

5 Teddy bear cookie cutter (or other appropriate shape)

Menu Inspiration

There are so many fun options for catering your Teddy Bear’s picnic. Below are some quick ideas and simple recipes to inspire!

Teddy Bear sandwiches Make up some of your favourite sandwiches (vegemite, peanut paste, jam etc) and cut them out using a teddy shaped cookie cutter.

Teddy biscuits Search your super market shelves for teddy bear shaped biscuits. There are a few varieties around.

Ants on a log Cut celery or carrot into sticks, fill with peanut paste or cream cheese and top with sultanas (ants).

Quick and Easy Food Ideas

Itty bitty bumble beesIngredients

5 1 cup rice bubbles

5 25g butter

5 ½ cup white marshmallows

5 Vegetable oil

5 50g choc melts

5 40 flaked almonds

Method

Place the rice bubbles in a large bowl. Place the butter and marshmallows in a small saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, for 2-3 minutes or until the butter melts and the mixture is smooth.

Add the butter mixture to the rice bubbles and stir until well combined. Set aside for 5 minutes to cool.

Line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper. Rub your hands with oil to lightly grease. Use your hands to roll heaped teaspoonfuls of the rice bubble mixture into oval shapes. Place on the lined tray. Use a small sharp knife to score the rice bubble shapes lengthways.

Place the choc melts in a zip lock bag. Place the bag in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in microwave on medium and melt in short burst (stirring every 30 seconds) until the chocolate melts. Cut a small hole in 1 corner of the bag and drizzle the chocolate over the rice bubble shapes to look like stripes. Arrange 2 flaked almonds in the indentation on each rice bubble shape to look like wings. Set aside to cool.
