Teddy Bears’ Picnic Offered as a one day experience for reception and year 1 pupils, the programme is designed to: nurture respect for the natural world through first hand contact; provide some understanding of how living things obtain their needs of life from the environment and what those needs are; encourage young children to make a positive contribution to caring for their environment at a level appropriate to their age. “The Foundation Phase environment should promote discovery and independence and a greater emphasis on using the outdoor environment as a resource for children’s learning” Framework for children’s learning for 3 to 7 year-olds in Wales (2008) The notion of a teddy bears’ picnic is in itself an exciting experience for young children. Once you’ve booked your date the children will receive a formal invitation for themselves and their teddies to attend the picnic. Please note, you will be the only school on the programme during the day. This is not a communal picnic in a park - there is a structured programme of activities for the day. Teddy Bears’Picnic

Offered as a one day experience forreception and year 1 pupils, theprogramme is designed to:

• nurture respect for the natural world through first hand contact;

Children will be greeted and taken to our Centrewhich will be our base; however, we will spendmost of the day in the wooded area. They willlearn the secret of PAWS and at the end of theday will receive certificates as qualified TeddyBear Guardians. The programme will be runningduring the summer term.

The cost of the day is £180 per class (maximum of 32 per class).

Cancellations must be in writing and made more than10 working days prior to the Teddy Bears’ Picnic or youwill be charged the full rate.
