PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Kalori /2

Hi Everyone,

Transition to School

This week we will run our final Transition to School Session for all our future Kindergarten students. Last week saw students investigate some of the many areas of the School on a Teddy Bear Treasure Hunt with some Year 5 buddies.

If you know of anyone still wanting to enrol for school in 2020, it is not too late. Or if any new families move to Henty over the coming months, please take the opportunity to tell them how great our school is and what you love about it!

Works around the school

I would like to thank all staff and students who have been very accommodating and flexible during our roofing project for the past few weeks. It is incredible to see how quickly they are completing the removal of the old tiles and sheeting with new corrugated Colorbond.

They are currently completing the K/1/2 Block with the administration block to be completed next. All K/1/2 classes have enjoyed the novelty of learning in a different area. To ensure the safety of all students during break times, we have temporarily closed the equipment area and are having students eat under the COLA.

The contractors have been putting in some big days and working weekends as well and should be finished the major parts soon.

Henty War Memorial Swimming Pool

Denise came to see me this week wanting me to remind families of some of the pool’s rules about supervision.

ALL children under 10 MUST be supervised by an adult.

Any child over 10 that is not a competent swimmer (able to swim 25m) MUST be supervised by an adult.

Attendance

Looking back at our attendance data Week 5 is traditionally our worst week for student attendance and this term was no different. With so many students (and teachers) suffering from ‘the nasty tummy bug’, I was happy to see those affected staying at home for at least 48 hours after their last symptoms. It also meant that several students have missed the intensive swimming due to the recommended 2 week break after being sick.

Celebrating Attendance at Henty Public School

Congratulations to 4/5 Black for an outstanding attendance percentage of 93.1%

Thank you

I have enjoyed my time as Relieving Principal but Mrs Tina Roworth will be back at school tomorrow. A huge thank you to Miss Claire Ross who has supported me as Relieving Assistant Principal and to Miss Alice Murdoch who has been teaching 2 Green for the past 3 weeks.

I know that there are 17 excited Year 2 students who can’t wait to have me back in our classroom on Wednesday.

Have an amazing week!
