term 1 week 4 west wyalong public...term that we had difficulty finding a date where we were free...
TRANSCRIPT
Welcome to week 4.
I would like to bring to your attention that The Leaders Induction
Assembly will be held tomorrow Tuesday 19th February. My
apologies for the changing of dates… we have such a busy
term that we had difficulty finding a date where we were free
from other activities!
Our first P&C meeting of the year will be held this Wednesday at
6.00pm and I hope that you can join us. The P&C group does
an amazing job supporting the school and we are grateful for
the contributions that they make to our classrooms and the
playground improvements. It is a wonderful way for our parents
to make friends, find out what is happening in our school and
participate in activities that provide extra resources for our
students. Please come along and join the fun!!
We will be having emergency evacuation practices over the
next two weeks so please don’t panic if you hear the
evacuation signal or your children tell you that we had to all
evacuate from the rooms!
Have a good week!

Music Ensembles at WWPS
Rehearsals for 2019 groups will begin this week (Week 4)
All ensembles (aside from Primary Choir) begin at 8:30 AM before school. Please note the day change for some ensembles this year. If your child is interested in any ensembles tell them to come along to try it out or speak to Mrs Charpentier if they have any questions. It is important that students show commitment to the group as being in an ensemble is just like a sporting team; everyone has a role to play in the group and is required at every rehearsal. If your child catches a bus to school they can just come straight from the bus to the MPR. With some ensembles music will be given to students and I expect that they will practice at home so they are prepared for the next rehearsal. This ensures that students can progress quickly and learn a wide variety of music throughout the year. Monday – Ukulele Ensemble- aimed at Year 3-6. You do not have to have your own ukulele to participate, however it is an advantage, of course. Please speak to Mrs Charpentier if you are considering purchasing your own as there are many toy ones on the market which are not appropriate for this ensemble. I will be happy to provide you advice on purchasing if you choose to do this. Trumpet Lessons- Monday-Recess and Lunchtime and Tuesday-Lunchtime Band session with other instruments. Tuesday – Clarinet Group- 8:30am-intermediate, Recess- beginners, Lunch -Band (with trumpets). Primary students are invited to join this group based on their commitment and skill shown through their participation in the Recorder Ensemble and/or other ensembles, and availability of instruments. Thursday- Vocal Group-aimed at Years 4-6. Auditions will be held this week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings at 8:30am in the MPR. These students remain part of the group all year and will perform at many events, within school and in the community, within and outside normal school hours. Friday- Recorder Ensemble- aimed at Year 2-6.This is an extension program, building on recorder skills they have learned in their classroom music lessons. Students will need to have their own recorder at home to be able to practise their parts. I have some for sale for $8. Please send the money in an envelope to the front office and bring the receipt to the MPR to pick up the recorder. If you choose to buy one elsewhere, please don’t purchase toy ones, buy only from a music shop. If you send in a USB stick (labelled with their name and class) I can load any backing tracks for them to assist with their practice at home. [Friday- Primary Choir- during regular school hours. Open to all Primary students who enjoy singing. No experience required, just enthusiasm ]
At various times during the year Mrs Charpentier may have a small number of clarinets and trumpets available at school for highly motivated and committed students. Students will be chosen for these lessons/ensembles based on their participation in other school music ensembles after consultation with the student and their parents. If you are interested in this opportunity please send your child with a note expressing interest.
