Last Wednesday the 28th November West Wyalong Public School was lucky enough to have Jessica Smith come and talk to our students. Jessica is an author, speaker, Para-Olympian and Cosmopolitan’s Woman of the Year. She was the guest speaker at our Women In Need of Sanity (WINOS) P and C fundraiser last term. Jessica read her book, “Little Jessica Goes to School”, to Kindergarten, Year 1 and 2 students before discussing her time as a Para-Olympian swimmer and what makes each of us different. The Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students then learnt about her successes and setbacks as a swimmer. Jessica showed all our students how she ties her shoelaces, does her hair and paints her nails with nail polish. Students were able to hold her medals and see the Olympic torch she carried in Grafton in the year 2000. Thank you so much Jessica for visiting our school and inspiring our students.
