AUTONOMOUS

Thakur College of Science & Commerce has been

conferred upon “Academic Autonomy” under

University of Mumbai, by the University Grants

Commission from June 2019.

The Autonomous stature gives freedom to the College

to design curricula as per industry requirements,

initiate innovative skill development programs for

employment, offer necessary credits for enhanced

knowledge acquired and conduct examinations on

their own. This is one of the important milestones in

the history of the College. The College is administered

by Governing Body, Academic Council, Board of

Studies, Examination Committee/ Board and Finance

Committee. This has helped the college to bridge

the gap between Industry and Academia and bring

revolutionary changes in the curricula. Every subject is

governed by a separate Board of Studies comprising

of well-known Academicians with representation

from University, Industry, Corporate and Alumni alike.

Benefits of Autonomy

• Freedom to design curricula as per dynamic

industry requirements.

• Freedom to students to choose course of their

choice from a wide range of electives.

• Continuous assessment to ensure fairness and

consistent competence of students.

• Develop innovative project-based methods of

student’s assessment and performance evaluation.

• Student-centric teaching pedagogy, using modern

tools of education technology.

• Promote healthy practices of community projects

and social justice.

• Collaborations with International Institutes for

limitless avenues of Student development.

The Academic Council looks into the academic

affairs and quality of curricula, teaching and quality

of education imparted at Undergraduate as well as

Post-Graduate levels. Presently, our First Year (2020-

2021) and Second Year (Batch enrolment 2019-2020)

responsible to grow itself as a centre of excellence in

developing global competencies through knowledge

creation, character grooming and social commitment

to the Nation.
