A big catch
Fishing guide Joe Kayafas has a great story about the
one that didn’t get away, but he’s talking about a fisherman
rather than a fish.
Kayafas, of Frying Pan Anglers in Basalt, was fishing
the Fryingpan River with two clients Tuesday. They were
moving from one section of water to another by car when
one of his passengers spotted what appeared to be a man in
distress in the river about 10 miles up Frying Pan Road.

SNOWMASS SUN | 314 E. HYMAN AVE. #101 | ASPEN, CO 81611 | 970.925.3414 | WWW.SNOWMASSSUN.COM
Snowmass Village is a tight-knit mountain community, with a year-round population of 2,967 nestled beneath the second largest ski area in the country. Snowmass, one of Aspen Skiing Co.’s four area mountains, consistently ranks high in ski and snowboarding magazine reader polls. Its three conference centers and large hotels make it popular for group business, and it is just a few miles away from an airport served by three major airlines.
After stalled development during the recession, Snowmass Village is poised for sustainable, positive growth in the coming years. That will draw new businesses and more visitors as infrastructure, resources and lodging continue to expand.
THREE AMAZING FACTS!
1 Snowmass ranked No. 9 on Ski magazines list of “Best Ski Resorts in the West” in 2013.
2 Two new hotels are expected to open in 2015.
3 Called “America’s best family mountain” by Travel + Leisure.
