The British Muslim Awards will celebrate and showcase the determination, hard work and personal achievements of British Asian men and women at the forefront of their industries.

The prestigious Awards have been celebrated annually since 2013 – They embody the continuing strength of the Britain’s Asian community, recognis-ing those whose vision, courage, and creativity has led to their success in an ever evolving economic landscape.

This year the competition has become more intense as the event itself has grown into a highly respected outlet where the best and brightest are hon-oured. Good luck to all the nalists and thank you all for attending.

LOCAL 5-YEAR-OLD BECOMES YOUNGEST CERTIFIED MICROSOFT COMPUTER SPECIALIST

READ THE LATEST NEWS AND UPDATES ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.THEASIANTODAY.COM

A Birmingham based 5-year-old boy has become the youngest-ever certified

Microsoft Computer Specialist. Ayan Qureshi took the exam at the age of five and overtook Pakistani Mehroz Yawar for the coveted title. Speaking to The Asian Today he described how he felt.

"I developed an interest in computers at a very early age. I used to sit next to my dad, watching

him working on computers and hi-tech stuff. That was the turning point. It was the time I started playing with computers. As the time passed my interest in computers grew and it became hobby for me to play around with computers, there was more and more inter-est and fun for me in the computing while I was learning and grasping the concepts.

The brainchild of Gurinder Chadha, known for Bend it Like Beckham and Bride & Prejudice, this fresh, new, non-scripted drama series will chronicle the lives of a multi-generational cast within the British-Asian community and will air on Sky Living.Shot on location in West London and the suburbs which are home to a rich, diverse population, in places such as Southall, Harrow and Gerrards Cross, Desi Rascals will tell the stories of a modern, dynamic and aspirational group of characters across a range of ages as they navigate their social, professional and family lives in a fast changing community. The series will be rooted in the social media landscape, shot in real time and using social networks so the cast can interact with Sky Living customers as their lives unfold on screen. It will be shown twice a week at 8pm, with each

audience react to what's just happened.Antonia Hurford-Jones, Director, Sky Living said, "I am so excited to be bringing our customers a genuinely authentic and warm approach to the non-scripted drama genre with Desi Rascals. It has exactly the tone and sensibilities we look for in a Living show and I loved the idea from the minute I heard it. I am so excited to be working with the supremely talented Gurinder and

Tony, telling the stories of a charming, smart, funny and previously untapped cast of characters."Gurinder Chadha, CEO Bend It TV, commented, "I've been wanting for a long time to create a show which allowed me to show the British Asian community in a truly three-dimensional way, exploring the relationships between generations and what it means to be British and

to see a show from where I grew up with people talking about their world and lives in their own words - I could never write dialogue as rich as this!"Tony Wood, CEO, Buccaneer Media said, "Having been at the start of the British structured reality boom, it's great to be back. Desi Rascals moves the genre on and brings the massive tale of young British Asians to a whole new audience. I'm thrilled to be working with Sky Living and Gurinder; this is a brilliant opportunity."
