After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking
them questions.
“Trees of Life” at Mary Immaculate: We have chosen to
honor and remember members of our parish community who have died since last Christmas as well as those that have been baptized as we celebrate the Birth of Our Lord. A member of our parish community has created a cross with the name written on the cross of those that have died. The angels have the names of those that were baptized. Together they will represent the “Trees of Life”. After the Christmas season, both will be available at the Welcome Desk on the weekend of Feb 2nd, 2019 if you wish to pick them up.

Father Augustine and the entire Staff members of Mary Immacu-
late Parish would like to thank everyone who sent cards and gifts
to the office. Thank you and God bless. Merry Christmas.
A wrap up for the year 2018
“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name
give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithful-
ness” (Ps 115:1). With these words of the Psalmist, I am most
grateful to God for his strength and guidance for all of us on
our journey of faith. I thank all the members of our Parish of
Mary Immaculate for your love, support and understanding
during the year 2018. This year has been a memorable year for
our Parish as we had to adapt to multiple changes and to take
decisive steps in moving forward for the health and growth of
the Parish. We all rose to the challenge with many people com-
ing up through various ministries ready to assist one way or
another while putting some programs on hold and some were
stopped completely. As time went on we gained some stability
with new Team members and we were able to bring forth more
programs to support the communal and spiritual growth of the
Parish. Thanks to all our volunteers who are always ready to
respond to the needs of the Parish.
I thank every family of Mary Immaculate Parish for making this
faith community your home. Your presence every weekend, and
sometimes during the week, your time, talents and treasure
which were harnessed together for the growth of this Parish are
greatly appreciated. Your disposition to worship with great
excitement and joy is an inspiration to those who visit the
Parish, as many testified to this at the door after the masses. I
thank all the staff and students of our schools for their
cooperation as partners in Christian formation. I am most
grateful to the Staff and the Residents of Dorchester Terrace for
inviting the Parish to minister to the Residents. It has been a
wonderful and fulfilling ministry for us, for the Residents and
those who live in Dorchester. I also thank the members of the
Team, Staff, Ministries and Organizations, PPC, Committees,
and Everyone in the Parish for all the accomplishments in the
year. You are Awesome!
As we look forward to the new year, we have been challenged
to move from maintenance to mission. We are to enrich
ourselves with the life of prayer and the knowledge of God’s
word, so that we can have the strength to support one another
in our struggles. Let us be zealous about reaching out to those
who thirst for the gift of faith in their lives and lead them to the
knowledge of God. Each day of our life is a testimony that God
has a purpose for keeping us alive in his love. We must not be
tired of doing what is right in his presence.
I wish you all a faith-filled New Year and great success in all
your undertakings through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Fr. Augustine
Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph
For the Israelites, God’s dwelling place , was the
Temple , in Jerusalem.
Every year , to keep festival, they journeyed there.
These pilgrimages were joyous occasions, as God’s chosen people,
came together, in worship.
On this feast of the Holy Family, we come together , at mass,
celebrating who we are.
By our baptisms, we are Children of God, and we are reminded of
where our Heavenly Home and Family, is truly located. I have
personally witnessed the panic of parents, who had momentarily
lost a child in a crowd, only to have their little one found and
brought to them, by a helpful stranger. I have witnessed the sheer
panic of a woman, running back to the change room in a
department store, in search of her misplaced purse!
In today’s gospel, Mary and Joseph searched in panic and haste
for 3 days,
as they looked for their lost son, Jesus.
As a parent, I can’t imagine their thoughts and fears,
as they spent 3 sleepless nights, searching for Jesus.
As we celebrate this Christmas Season,
it is a time to reflect on our own personal search for Jesus, in our
hearts. The challenge is to find Jesus , and ensure that we keep
Him , and include Him, as part of our family.
Through reciting grace at meals, placing crucifix’s in our rooms,
and blessing or praying for our children , we will be mindful of
Jesus with us.
We must not be satisfied to seek and find Jesus, only at weekly
mass, in the scriptures and the Eucharist.
Our task is to locate and find Jesus in the “Lost” or “Outcast” who
live among us.
Through Prayer and Reflection, may we grow in the Wisdom
to truly “Seek” and “Encounter” our Saviour, by caring for one
another.
From my family to yours, we wish you all a Holy Christmas Season,
and a Blessed New Year.
