Mass Intentions

A Family Perspective—Parenting is a Eucharistic activity because from the first moment of conception children consume us, our flesh, blood, energy, time and resources. If we don’t sacrifice ourselves, our children would not have life. This is the priesthood of parenting. Christ is present in this self-sacrifice.

Worship Aids

Thank you for working with us to keep everyone safe. Did you notice the worship aid that was available as you came in? They’ll be provided each week in the same location. If you’d like to take one or two extras home for someone to use during the live stream, that would be fine, but please understand that only a certain number are printed each week, and we need to make sure everyone attending Mass has one for their use. Missals have been stored to reduce the risk of Covid exposure.

Our deepest sympathy & remember in your prayers Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., Warren Wise, James J. Cook, David

Robertson, Thomas Wengerd & all the deceased of our parish.

Welcoming God, receive from our hands the loved ones we return to you. We pray to the Lord.

Amen.

Dear Parish Family, Happy Feast Day! This weekend in the middle of June would have been another incredible Feast Day celebration at St. Anthony-All Saints Parish. It would have been very special this year as we would have also celebrated with Fr. Tom Bishop his 50th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood. I am disappointed that we cannot gather to celebrate this special day of the year in our parish. It is not possible to safely gather the number of people who come home to celebrate. We are still observing the day. The Feast Day of St. Anthony of Padua is June 13th and we cannot let that go unnoticed. We will attempt a virtual Feast Day with live streams and photos of past Feast Days on our social media platforms. It is definitely not the same as getting together for the Mass in the yard under the big tent. Processing with St. Anthony around the parish grounds and returning to get in line for all the good foods our community has to offer. Spending the afternoon visiting with old friends and members of our parish family. We have boxes of old photos and many files on the computer of pictures of Feast Days down through the years. I was going through some of them to see how much has changed and some things are the same. Time is not always a friend to us, and the biggest changes are seeing the younger versions of many of our parishioners as well as seeing and remembering people who are no longer with us.

This Feast Day may give us an opportunity to pause and reflect on many of the good things we’ve had. We do not want to forget our past, but it is not healthy to stay in the past. As we celebrate Feast Day in a very different way this year, may we celebrate what was, acknowledge the reality that we are currently facing and plan and work for what is to come down the road. May you have a happy and blessed Feast Day! Happy Anniversary Fr. Tom and PER SEMPRE CASA • HOGAR PARA SIEMPRE • ZAWSZE DO DOMU • NAVŽDY DOMOV!

Your brother in Christ, Fr. Tom

All events, other than funerals, have been cancelled per the Governor’s announcements and the letter from the Bishops of Ohio. This month that includes Hispanic Bread and Coffee, and the Miraculous Medal Mother Daughter Social and Picnic, and the Sons of Italy picnic that was scheduled. This week our First Communion candidates will be meeting for retreats, but multiple retreats have been scheduled to limit class size. Those were invitation only, and the students have been contacted.

Ministry Schedule

Public Masses have resumed as of May 30th and 31

st.

Due to health and Diocesan guidelines we will limit the number of people distributing Communion and ministering as ushers. Linda and Roberta will be contacting you to update you on some of the changes required by the Diocese and how that will affect Masses here.

The Mass book has now been opened through the end of 2020. Mass requests we have received for the second half of the year have been scheduled as requested. At this time and for the foreseeable future we will be keeping the same Mass schedule: Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 am, Saturday at 4:00 pm and Sunday at 8:00 am, 9:45 am and 11:30 am. If the Mass schedule is adjusted or changed per the Diocesan Pastoral Regional Planning (which is currently on hold as we work through the process of coming back to Mass) then we will reschedule and notify the families. The revised form for Mass intentions can be found on page 6. Thank you, as always, for your continued patience.

Schedule of Masses—Streaming

Thank you to everyone who have joined our live streams on Facebook! These will continue while we begin coming together for Masses due to the limits on how many people can be in the church, and in consideration for those that may not yet feel comfortable attending. We will continue to offer live streams for every Mass.

Please note that during Holy Communion the camera will be pointed at an image in the Sanctuary and not at the parishioners who receive. Otherwise the camera will be pointed at the Sanctuary.

Over the past couple months you may have seen in the bulletin that we have a new program for Child Protection for our diocese. VIRTUS is a national program for child abuse and protection. It focuses on how to prevent child abuse and neglect and how to spot red flags when working with children and vulnerable adults. The diocese began this new program as a way to safeguard our young people. In addition to attending at VIRTUS session all volunteers will need to update their finger prints and background checks.

Even if you have been a volunteer in the past you are required to be certified in the VIRTUS program and have new fingerprints on file. I know this may seem time consuming but it is necessary so that our parish is in compliance with our diocese. But more so, it’s about protecting our children. As a VIRTUS facilitator I have found most people do not want to take the time to come to the session, but when they do they always learn something new. We also have good discussions and learn from each other.

If you have any questions on our child protection program please contact Roberta at 330-452-9539.

VIRTUS

Fathers day flower donations are being accepted. A small portion of funds received will purchase flowers for the church, but the balance will be donated to charity. Please be sure to list their names on the envelope when you send in your donations! We can accept names as late as Wednesday afternoon.

Fathers Day

We are so excited to see everyone again! However, there are several changes that are being implemented in an effort to meet state and Diocesan guidelines for health and safety, as well as to protect our parish family. The letter from the Bishops of Ohio and the Diocesan letter of recommendations have both been published in the bulletin this month. We have also made them available as separate documents on Facebook and the website if you’d like to review the information.

We know there are many parishioners who are at-risk or immune compromised, and we want to make sure that everyone feels safe and comfortable in the worship space. We are asking that everyone wear masks from the time we enter the church until we leave. This will help protect each other, and decrease the time needed to clean and sanitize between masses.

We ask that you stay home if you have been in a gathering of more than 10 people in the last 14 days.

The live stream will continue to be available.

Entering the church and overflow seating For the foreseeable future, everyone will be required to enter the building at the handicapped ramp entrance. We strongly encourage you to stay in your vehicle until 15-20 minutes before mass starts, then approach the entrance doors. You are welcome to rest under the pavilion as long as you are masked and maintain social distances of 6 feet between parishioners.

An usher will greet you at the door, confirm that you have a mask and point out where the worship aids are available to pick up. They will then line you up in the hallway of the church.

We are no longer allowed to pass collection baskets, so we are asking that you please place your offertory in the large basket located inside the door as you enter the worship space.

Once near the church itself, you will be greeted by another usher who will tell you where to sit and determine when the church is full. Once we’ve reached seating capacity, the usher will direct you to one of the two overflow areas in the Friendship Room or in the Heritage Hall. Each overflow area will have preplaced seating, and designated walkways. The Mass will be live streamed in the overflow areas and at Communion a Eucharistic Minister will come to the area to distribute Communion.

Changes to how we Receive Communion Per DOY, reception of the Precious Blood from the Chalice is suspended. We are requesting that when it is time for Communion:

• You will wait for an usher to release you from the pew into the center aisle, assuring social distancing.

• As you approach the Eucharistic Minister, you will pull down your facemask then hold out your hands to receive Communion.

• Communion will be placed in your hands by the Eucharistic minister.

• You will then consume the Eucharist, put your mask back over your face and return to your pew via the outside aisle.

Please join us at 2:00 pm for a

Eucharistic Holy

Hour.

In Thanksgiving for all of

our Blessings,

Pray in the presence of

the Holy Eucharist.

Parish Family, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you.” Jeremiah 29:11 We had many plans this year, and then they got put on hold or cancelled because of the pandemic. We are disappointed to say the least. At our parish we’ve missed out on our Lenten gatherings of Soup and Stations, our Lenten Mission, Confirmation and First Communion. We were not able to be together for Holy Week and Easter. We also had to cancel Feast Day. Feast Day is a tradition for our community. Each year, on that day, we come together to worship our Lord, reflect on our blessings as a parish family and enjoy fellowship, food and fun! One of my favorite Feast Day memories is being Confirmed, another memory was when I was commissioned, with others from the parish, to serve and volunteer on a Mission Trip to an orphanage in Nicaragua. It was great to feel the love and support of the community before the trip. That’s what Feast Day is all about-being together and sharing love and support. Unfortunately, this year we are not able to be together in person to celebrate this special event. At this year’s Feast Day we had a very special celebration, that of Fr. Tom Bishop’s 50

th Anniversary of Ordination. We give praise to God for Fr. Bishop’s service, leadership and love

as he led our parish family. We will, however, celebrate his anniversary at next year. We are still experiencing many “unknowns” of the future. But we trust that the Lord will hear our prayer and believe that His plans will be fruitful.

God Bless, Roberta
