Meeting your soul-mate, risking your life in terrible storms, discovering treasure and taking to your heals with it. There’s nothing like an adven-turer’s life, full of twists and turns, far from the daily grind. It’s the life we all dream of. Even if it’s a far cry from his dull daily routines, who said a goldfish isn’t allowed to have dreams too?

Tu as oublié la lumière ! Monsieur ?

Hé monsieur !

Quand un busard, comme par hasard, l’emporta.

Voir en vrai le sous-marin jaune.

WHO ARE YOU?Boris has an argument with his reflection in the mirror. It must be said Boris’s reflection is a real pain the neck. He has nothing positive to say, and keeps shouting that a mirror never lies. Someone please shut him up!

LONG LIVE NATURE!Nature had it all planned: soft grass to fall on so no one gets hurt, rain to wash away the dirt, and sunshine to get warm and dry. And above all, a mom to bring out the milk and cookies.

Every night, before he snuggles down in bed, first he has to say good-night to everything. If it was just his jacket, trousers and shoes, life would be fine, but this guy doesn’t do things by halves and when he starts saying goodnight to his left leg, it makes you wonder if his goodnights are ever going to end. A book with a surprising and hilarious ending.

“It’s raining, it’s pouring, ‘I’m fed up, it’s boring,’ says the frog. But then a boa passing through gobbled him up. Bad luck! Unfortunately wherever you go in life there’ll always be someone bigger. And so the boa is then gobbled up on turn by a passing eagle, etc, etc. Who’s on the end of the food chain? The storyteller of course. A circular story with a twist in the tale!

By Mathis

Boris is a cute, funny little bear with a tough character. He loves playing with toys and he loves teasing them. He may be

a stubborn, mischievous, adorable and quick-tempered young soul but never boring. Boris the Bear is the perfect companion

little children never knew they needed!

Eddy may look like your common and garden bear, but actually he’s no ordinary bear. An album full of picture book clichés, representing familiar situations in a baby’s daily life – playing, eating, going pee, going to bed, etc – situations that are delightfully subverted on the following double page. The world is such a big place and days are too short, so everyone needs books and kisses in abundance if they’re to grow up big and beautiful.

Two funny penguins, one little, one big, joined together by a rope. And on their bellies there is a big button that helps them change its length, and vrrr… they suddenly spring back together again. But little penguin doesn’t always want what big penguin wants. A beautiful book about emancipation for learning how to live and grow together.

A doggydog in the throes of teenage angst starts writing to his grandma. A rose plucks up her finest quill and pens her innermost thoughts to the gardener. A madcap mosquito enters into an imaginary correspondence with a window. After “Letters with feathers and fur”, five new and crazy animal missive exchanges containing hard-hitting hilarious letters which between the lines conceal subtle, intelligent criticisms of our society.

Today, tomorrow, yesterday, now, never, always…Word-by-word and page-by-page, through definitions and examples, we follow a growing girl, Jeanne, who helps us understand the notions of time that seem so complex to kids. In her preface, the psychologist, clinician and doctor of psychology Annie Rolland highlights how, “in this age ruled by speed and performance, […] it’s a good idea to slow down, […] for the time it takes to read a book.” More than an inventory of words and images for talking about time, this album plays with words, and gives children keys and meaning to life.

IN YOUR LITTLE POCKETS Yann MensShe spends her days wandering the Paris metro, jumping off and on trains to pickpocket the passengers. She’s a normal kid, in a different school where she’s learns how to spot tourists a mile away, as well as the cops, who come chasing herself and her friends. From morning till night, their sticky fingers dip into bags and pockets. They have no choice. If day’s crust ain’t earned, they pay for it in the evening. One day, a cop catches her. She didn’t run fast enough. But this cop is different to the others, and gets behind her tough exterior.

TOMORROW, I PROMISE Christophe LéonZachary is a real daredevil. He skateboards, he plays tennis (he can even beat Yannick Noah), he jumps out of airplanes with parachutes (he even breaks the sound barrier), he falls in love with a beautiful gypsy girl, he goes fishing… Zachary loves daydreaming. From his hospital bed, he manages to turn his days into worlds of adventure.

SIDONIE, IT’S OVER Raphaële BotteLucien meets a beautiful girl on the stairs leading up to his apartment. And she looks like she’s a lot of fun. He dreams of having her as a baby-sitter after school. But first he has to get rid of Sidonie. He plots and schemes and criticizes her, before finally Lucien gets what he wants. Now Rose takes over. She’ll be taking care of Lucien now. But Rose isn’t all she was cracked up to be and, when she’s not ruling Lucien with an iron fist, she’s on the phone to her boyfriend…

THE KING OF THE GULLS, THE QUEEN OF THE OWLS Vincent CuvellierA global catastrophe has struck, destroying the cities, and survivors take refuge in the forests. The animals gather to decide what is to become of the human invaders. Kill them? Help them? Each animal representative gives their opinion (as well as some of the plants), each expressing their grudges and bugbears. Power has changed hands and payback time has come. Only the fittest shall survive and now the fittest are the animals. They have the vote. Save mankind or not? Ultimately, it is a baby animal who has the casting vote. In this crazy, off-beat senate, seagulls, rats, bees, deer, and mosquitoes take the stand, as well as the nettles.

Gregory secretly rears pets in the cellar of his Parisian apartment block. But not your usual kind of pet. Gregory rears spiders and scorpions and other fragile species that demand a lot of care and attention. What’s more, everybody uses the cellar, some for growing cannabis, others for walking their pet rats. When the police finds out about the marijuana racket, the electricity is cut off. Gregory has to find a solution to save his pets. The old timer in the building welcomes Gregory’s mini-menagerie into his home, and a friendship sparks up across the generations. A delightful tale of an apartment block and the people who live in it, where a reclusive teen discovers friendship and where solidarity has an important role to play.

Damienne has just had a huge revelation: she really digs fashion. So she switches school course and signs up for an internship with a young and promising Italian fashion designer (Tosca della Valle), and is immediately thrown in at the deep-end: preparing her first show for Fashion Week, alongside Martin, another internee from the same high-school who’s bubbling with ideas. Damienne discovers she loves the supercharged atmosphere of the fashion world. Damienne has found her vocation. A book presenting heroine full of daring and imagination in a world that is sure to win over young female readers.

After leaving his native Brittany, Jules manages to settle in Paris and forms a genuine friendship with his neighbor Mr. Langman, despite their age difference. When he accidentally overhears a conversation, Jules learns that his father is not dead after all and that his mother has been lying to him. The boy dreams of finding his father again, even if it does mean traveling to a far-flung Micronesia island. To achieve his goal, he is going to need Mr. Langman, who has his own very good reasons to help his young neighbor.

For Zoe, Myriam, Aziz and Maxime, the Clos Vert farm is the last chance saloon. If they put one foot wrong, instead they’ll be spending their summers at an educa-tion boot camp. Like every year, Suzanne and Amedee’s grandson, Felix, is also vacationing at the farm and he’s fed up of being invaded by hoards of badly-brought-up teens who couldn’t care less for the horses. Everyone has to muck in and the work is tough: there are the horses to groom, the stables to clean, and housework to do, with Amedee wielding a rod of iron. Suzanne’s good humor and great cooking manage to soothe the most rebellious. The equestrian center is threatened by bankruptcy because of a dishonest competitor. When they hear the news, the kids on the farm go out of their way to find solutions to save the farm. And they’re not short of ideas. Good humor and humanity, goodwill and solidarity ultimately work miracles. A novel oozing with the same atmosphere as Encore heureux qu’il ait fait beau.

Fred is a metro vigilante. He cannot bear to see men taking advantage of the crowds to grope wo-men. He spots the men, harasses them and shames them in front of everyone else. One day, he comes across Tilly, a young woman who has just struck out at her harasser. The police give chase and they have to take refuge in an apartment block where they meet Jean, an old timer who’s been bored and bad-tempered ever since he retired. To get away from his kids who want to put him in a home, and from his neighbor whom he cannot bear anymore, Jean takes Fred and Tilly to a house, not far from Paris. In this three-voice narrative, a series of minor incidents lead the protagonists, almost despite themselves, into a mêlée of events that are totally out of their control.

Leila is her younger sister’s legal guardian and, af-ter their difficult childhood, she’s determined to give her a good upbringing. So every day after school, Sabbah has to spend her time with the neighbors downstairs, the Mavre family, and the ancient mo-ther and her slightly less ancient daughter Brigitte, a retired school teacher. What Leïla doesn’t know is that Brigitte has a screw loose, and that she’s fond of playing out her own 3D action movies at home, full blast and in dolby stereo, depending on her moods. While Brigitte’s immediate neighbors are terrified of old-timer, the ten-year-old Sabbah develops affection for the reclusive pair.

Doriand has the misfortune of being born to a father who’s an author of children’s novel, a father who’s suffering from writer’s block. What’s worse, his father has traced out Doriand’s whole life in his novels. It’s so embarrassing, it makes him mad. When they set out on their vacation in Normandy, father and son agree a non-aggression pact. It is the same seaside resort where the father’s parents live, but years ago he broke away from them. When Doriand finds out, he invites himself round to their delightful residence to find out more about his father, and why he never mentions the olden-days. After all, what does come to light would make great novel material.

MARTIN, THE HEAVY-DUTY BLUNDERER Sarah Turoche-DromerySam and Martin are set to join their parents for their cousin’s wedding in Italy. While Martin is the eldest, his younger brother, Sam is by far the most level-headed and responsible. From the moment they reach the airport, Sam begins to get the jitters and for good reason too, as subsequent events out-nightmare even his own worst nightmares. This time Martin goes too far. They reach Italy earlier than expected, and the two brothers are lodged by a cousin; the real adventure however has only just begun. They lose their luggage, get caught up in a wild and crazy party, have problems waking, a car accident, etc, etc, etc. They finally turn up late to the wedding riding in a sidecar – an unobtrusive entrance if ever there wasn’t!

IT’S TOUGH BEING A STAR! Ingrid ThoboisSimone Toupet is the ideal neighbor. She hates school, she makes great cakes, she loves singing and she understands why Martin dreams of becoming the next Justin Bieber. Martin spends much of his time at Simone’s house and eventually she enrolls him in a singing competition, because she believes in him. But becoming a star is hard work, you have to rehearse and learn how to place your voice. It’s not as easy as it looks. A novel that takes a humorous look at childhood ambitions to become a star.
