At Bhadarwah, the Jhanki of Lord Krishna was taken out from the famous Vasuki Nag Temple Ghatha in a fully deco- rated chariot by the devotees. The Jhanki started with tra- ditional Pooja Archana of Lord Krishna by religious scholars in the famous Temple. Hundreds of devotees includ- ing prominent citizens and leaders of various political par- ties and social organisations participated in the proces- sion(Jhanki) which was start- ed from Vasuki Nag Temple Ghatha and passed through Udrana, Radio Station, Kotli, New Bus Stand, Seri Bazaar and culminated at Vidya Mandir School Jai Road Bhadarwah. The Jhankis were also taken out from Shankhoja, Mathola, Bheja, Manthla, Haliyan, Dalain, Thubba and Lagsaroo areas of Bhadarwah to cele- brate auspicious day of Janmashtami. The people en-route show- ered flowers from the rooftops on the Jhankis and paid obei- sance to Lord Krishna to seek his blessings. Housewife dies after falling from balcony STATE TIMES NEWS BHADAWRAH: A house- wife died after falling from balcony of her house in Bhadarwah area of district Doda. According to a report, a housewife got seriously injured, when she suddenly fell from her house's first floor balcony at old Bus Stand area of Bhadarwah. Reports said that family members immediately shift- ed her to Sub District Hospital Bhadarwah, where doctors declared her as brought dead. The deceased has been as Shenaz Begum wife of Javed Malik resident of Old Bus Stand, Bhadarwah. Her body was handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal formalities. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Senior Congress leader and INTUC State Secy Sumeet Magotra on Wednesday visited far flung areas of block Panchari of Udhampur District to take stock of problems being faced by the people. Judge Udhampur STATE TIME NEWS RAJOURI: CSR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu organ- ised an awareness pro- gramme on cultivation of aromatic plants at Girls Higher Secondary School, Darhal, Rajouri for twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch for enhancement of income of rural margin- alised farmers. Farmers were introduced to the cultivation of aro- matic plants aiming at improving the socio-eco- nomic conditions of the State in general and farm- ing community in particu- lar by introducing these high value cash crops to the farmers and progres- sive growers. Director, IIIM, Jammu Dr. Ram Vishwakarma informed the audience about the aims and objec- tives of the programme and highlighted the importance of aromatic crops. He said that J and K State is ideal- ly suited for the cultivation of high value aromatic plants throughout the year. Cultivation of aromatic plants has assumed greater significance as it has not only huge employment potential but surely has greater impact to increase the income levels of the society as a whole. He emphasised that cultiva- tion of these crops will open up new opportunity for the farmers and unem- ployed youths for produc- tion of aromatic oils which is natural base stock for aroma, perfumery, person- al care, home care, insecti- cide repellents, aroma therapy, food supplements and nutraceuticals indus- try. Detailed presentation and demonstration were held for the farmers and progressive growers in the area of cultivation of aro- matic plants, intercropping of aromatic plants in agri- culture crops, funding opportunities for innova- tions to farmers, start-ups and entrepreneurs for developing Aromatic prod- ucts by value addition of aromatics produce. Presentation and demon- strations was given to the farmers by Dr. Suresh Chandra, Chief Scientist, Dr Rajendra Bhanwaria and Dr. S. R Meena, CSIR- IIIM, Jammu. An interactive meet between farmers and scien- tists was also held at the end of the programme in which salient features of improved agro-technolo- gies and marketing tips were provided to the grow- ers. Around 300 people including supervisors, Anganwadi workers, helpers and local people attended the pro- gramme. During the camp, the Chief Guest MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar hand- ed over seven motorised tricycles to physically challenged persons which were provided by State Rehabilitation Council. In his speech, MLA said that the motorised tricy- cles shall provide a hassle free mobility to the physi- cally disabled persons. He desired that all the func- tionaries of Social Welfare Department and ICDS should work sincerely and in coordination so that the benefits provided under various welfare schemes reach the beneficiaries in a time bound manner. District Social Welfare Officer Kishore Katoch made the participants aware regarding various welfare schemes being implemented by the department. He stressed upon super- visors and Anganwadi workers to compete the survey of the left out poor girls under SMAS in the shortest possible time. The CDPO discussed in detail the schemes run under ICDS project. MVD organises medical camp for drivers STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: The Motor Vehicle Department on Wednesday organised a free medical camp for Drivers as part of Road Safety measures. The aim of organizing the medical camp was to check eyesight, blood pressure and other health issues of the drivers and provide them medical treatment & advise them for safety measure. They were also sensitized about how health issues if not taken care of can prove dangerous for commuters and for pedestrians. A team of doctors conducted health check-up of more than hun- dred drivers including those of non-commercial vehicles. The programme was organized by ARTO Poonch in collaboration with Health department. The department will hold more such camps in near future where drivers will be informed about Health issues effecting safe driving. The transporters and drivers thanked transport depart- ment Poonch for organizing the free medical camp. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: The 50th annual congregations of Raja Mandlik was organ- ised at village Jaganoo in Udhampur District in which a large number of people of this Biradari participated and sought the blessings of Raja Mandlik. Speaking on the occa- sion, Ramesh Kumar said that for the last more than 50 years the annual con- gregation is organised here in which people from various walks of life pay their obeisance and get the blessing of Raja Mandlik. In this regard a big func- tion was organised here in which BJP former Mahila Morcha President; Sakina Bano was the Chief Guest. Speaking during the func- tion, Sakina Bano wel- comed the people of this Biradari and said that this is very good that peo- ple of this Biradari in large number are present here to get the blessings of Raja Mandlik. Army organises Bhandara in Pandav Mandir STATE TIMES NEWS NOWSHERA: The Indian Army organised celebration of Krishan Janmashtami and a Bhandara in Pandav Mandir Kalsian situated on the Line of Control in Nowshera Sector on Tuesday in the presence of MLA Nowshera Ravinder Raina. Farmers were introducedto the cultivation of aro-matic plants aiming atimproving the socio-eco-nomic conditions of theState in general and farm-ing community in particu-lar by introducing thesehigh value cash crops tothe farmers and progres-sive growers.

Director, IIIM, JammuDr. Ram Vishwakarmainformed the audienceabout the aims and objec-tives of the programme andhighlighted the importanceof aromatic crops.
